Love the knife even if it's lighter than I thought it would be but theres something the puzzle me. First off the velcro on the front of the sheath, was there suppose to be a patch or something to be put on the pouch ? Also the bottom strap has velcro under it but it can't be adjusted or reversed like I was hopeing so whats the point ? Finally if I was wanting to replace the green cord with some black paracord how would I do that, the cord seems to be sewed into the sheath and can't be taken off unless I cut it. There any other way of doing it ? I'm going to have to sharpen it and get used to the handle but it's looks like it's going to work well for me. One last question is the Pestlence Chopper more tip heavy I gotta ask cause I'm wanting to strap on my backpack for woods bumming and I want a really good chopper.

velcro: it's for a monkey patch. esp the ZOMBIE monkey patch that KaBar sells (made by MilSpec Monkey); not included.

velcro under strap - to adjust length? i don't have that version of the sheath as yet, so i couldn't tell you. play with it, might have a brainstorm :)

cord: can't be replaces as far as i know.

all of those blades are based on old designs, including the Chopper - the old Case Pilot Survival pattern... very tip heavy. heavier than the sword very choppy.

the strap is odd cause it's got velcro under it but it's also stiched in place so you can't move it. Oh well still nice and choppy.

The lower strap has velcro under it to keep the strap out of the way when you open it, to make sure you're not slicing the straps when you're re-sheathing it. Meaning, the lower strap kind of gets in the way, and the velcro is to hold those ones open when you're putting the knife back in. FWIW, I cut that strap off completely, because lets face it, I'm not going to be parachuting anywhere anytime soon, and the single top strap holds the blade just fine.

About the other ones, I don't really know. I've thought about changing the cord, but when I look at it, it does look like too much work.

And I haven't held any of the other ZK knives, but I imagine the Chopper would be a better... chopper... than the war sword. Its the same thickness, but longer, and with more mass over the tip. The only downside is that it really has no tip to speak of, so that might be something to think about.

Good luck man :).

Oh, and here is mine. It is completely stripped now, with a pretty sweet Franks Red Hot, Mustard, Apple patina on it (that apparently can't be photographed... I've tried... it just looks stripped :(.)

I own the War Sword and the Famine Tanto. Believe it or not, the Famine is one hell of a chopper as well. Not as long as the Pestilence but nice and balanced if you are going to use it for anything after chopping.
