....that shipment on my model 14 has been delayed for another 7 months. I'm no business guru, but it seems RMK could hire a few more folks. Waiting almost 6 years for a knife has become a huge turn-off for me.

The last time I ordered Randall knives was in 1996. I just put them out of my mind and was surprised when the notification came from RMK 2 or 3 years later.

I ordered a couple of RMKs from Randall in 2006 and the expected delivery is 2011. However, I ordered a Sasquatch, #1 and #2 from a RMK dealer in 2006. The Sasquatch came last October and the #1 and #2 will be here in a couple of weeks!

Order through a RMK dealer and get your RMK knife a couple of years before ordering directly from Randall.

RMKs are truly a hand crafted knife and are in demand. Patience is a virtue. You can order one through a RMK dealer and reduce your wait time by a couple of years.

Sadly, this is not exactly breaking news. While the shop vehemently insists that the waiting period is "only" 58 months, I have heard many stories from people of waits up to 68 months for knives.

I suppose if you're prepared to wait 58 months, another three, or even 10, months shouldn't be that big a deal. And the good news is that this wait is exactly what drives the aftermarket prices of the knives up to ridiculous levels.

As far as adding employees, yeah, that would be nice. But they'd probably have to knock down some walls and expand the shop to do that. None of that's likely to happen any time soon. RMK wants to keep this a small, family business, and I can't say I really blame them for that.

So I guess the bottom line is: You want a Randall, you've got to pay for the privilege, one way or another (either in time spent waiting or in dollars). Speaking for myself, hey, I'm in no hurry.

I just watched Seraphim Falls last night...was that a RMK Sasquatch Brosnan was slaying folks with? I might could wait 6 years for one of those.:D
