I just received my O1 Trail Master and GI Tanto. They will keep my Recon Scout company. The SRK I was waiting for seems to have had some issues with shipping (I accidentally put my old address for the shipping address... doh!). I'll have to make some calls tomorrow to try to find it.

The Trail Master is a beautiful hunk of steel. I was afraid it was going to be too big, but I really like the size. I very much like the satin finish and the polished brass guard. I sort of wish the RS was the same, but I suppose the RS has more of a tactical following which warrants the coating. I would attempt strip the coating off the RS, but I'd only want to do it if I was convinced the guard was brass underneath. Strangely enough, the swedge came very sharp, enough to jaggedly cut paper. I'll have to dull it a bit.

The sheath is not quite as nicely fit as the Recon Scout sheath. It's made of thicker material, which is fine, but it has a looser fit, which I think is because it lacks the molded swedge area. It does have a drainage hole, which my RS sheath lacks.

I bought the GI Tanto to attempt some modifications. I'll probably strip it, clean up the stamped edges, regrind the tanto into a clip point, and maybe cut off the top guard. It's definitely pretty impressive for the price, especially with the sheath. Although, the sheath retention is crazy ridiculous, it's a bear to get in and almost impossible to get out. It also has the drainage hole in the sheath, but is the same material thickness as the RS sheath.

I just wish I had that SRK, so that the family would be complete.
