This knife is amazing. I just love it. The heft, blade shape, smooth opening, grip all feel right. I can't believe that a lockback can be this smooth.

And the way my wife's jaw dropped just from the looks of this thing - even better!

They are a fine knife for sure. I have been looking the one in the showcase over and like it very much, maybe I will keep it for myself.

Carefull George, those Spydies are mighty addictive. Take Care!!!

At the moment, I can't put down my Gunting. There is a tie for my next purchase: Chinook and Persian. Choices! Ugh!

Congratulations, cds1!

Looks like you've got yourself a great multi-purpose heavy-duty folder.

Congrats on your knife !! Now my short list is Blk. blade Military, Paramilitary, Chinook II, ... will it NEVER end   :D

I never was a fan of spyerco knives till I joined these forums. But after reading Brownies review of the original chinook, lookin at Simones beautiful pics and watching Sal respond to feedback here, I sprung for a Chinook II. WOW!! What a mac-truck of a knife for the money. Outstanding in every area: steel, fit, finish, ergonomics, price-you name it. With a modicum of care I can see this knife still doin its job many many years from now.

I didn't know there was a Chinook 1:(
I checked the Spydie site and they gave the product # as C63 II. The # on the box of the knife I just received says C63GP. I reade the description on the site and it sounds exactly like mine. I'm confused:confused:

congrats/enjoy. the specs on that knife seem mighty tasty! i haven't heard anything but raves over it. definitely on my list.

I hate how they put the stupid signature on the blade though...looks so stupid to me :barf:

Esav, thanks for the info :)

I have the Chinook. It's hard to tell from the pics but it looks like the Chinook is wider back at the thumb hole but the II appears a tad longer. At any rate I don't believe one can lose with either model.
Thanks again

You're welcome!

I believe the Chinook II was an attempt to make the knife more the of the self-defense concept that James Keating originally had in mind. The Chinook was sure a great, massive utility knife, and I like its solider looks better.
