Hey guys,

I'm usually a Benchmade carrier, but when I found out about the Kershaw blems I decided I needed one to carry so I didn't destroy my 712. Anyway, I picked up a Blur and a Skyline from Dave and I just recieved them in the mail. I grabbed the Blur for my Dad to use at work and the Skyline for me to carry.

The speedsafe on the Blur is a little difficult to get used to, so I may keep it. I've already almost cut myself a few times. I don't want my Dad to cut himself with it. Does anyone have any suggestions on the safe use of it? Here's a picture for you guys, both knives are great and I can't see what made them blems. I'll be picking up some more Kershaws for sure.

On the Blur, just a gently push on the thumb stud will do it. Try pushing the stud in a direction parallel with the scale, rather than trying to swing out the blade like you would with a Spydie or Benchmade. Do it 800 times while watching Gold Rush tonight on the Discovery Channel, and it will be a piece of cake. See how the serrations on the thumb stud are configured for you to push it parallel to the scale.

Powernoodle THANKS! That makes it much better. I feel better about giving it to my Dad. Now I want one for myself. Arrrrrrrggghhh, Darn knife addiction!

Happy ending. I should have added to push the stud with the fleshy part of your thumb, and not try to flick with with your thumbnail. Rock on.

Also, you can remove the torsion bar which makes it a very safe, very smooth manual folder.

That's good to know as well. Thanks!

Another question, what size torx do I need to to change the pocket clip? I don't seem to have one small enough to remove the screws. Thanks.

I have a Blur and I noticed that it has the most positive opening of any assisted opener that I have. The thumb studs are the easiest to get to and the most reliable to hit, more so than my Benchmades and CRKT's.

Thanks folks! I got everything worked out and switched around. The more I play with this Blur the more I want one. I think I'm going to have to order one for myself.

Those thumbstuds are sharp. So be careful, I've cut myself multiple times reaching into my pocket.

very nice, I just ordered an 0561 blem from dave today and can't wait to get it. I carry a 0560 that I got from him a few months back whenever I am not at work (trying to keep it a little nicer as I work on a farm and my work knives get a lot of hard use). Now I will be carrying the new blade at work and the 0560 outside of work... until the composite version comes out that is.
