just had a thought... how about victorinox classic scissors in a farmer or pioneer?

the only sak i own is the midnite manager on my keychain and i know nothing about the inner workings of a sak so pardon me if this is an absolutely ridiculous concept.
it looks like (to this grossly uninformed guy) a pair of small 58mm scissors might just fit where the can opener or cap lifter or awl is?
what do you sak modders think? is it possible without too much trouble?

Hmm interesting. I assume you mean the 58mm scissors onto something bigger like a tinker perhaps? I think the pins and springs are too big.

For a long time, I've thougth that the 4 blade combination should be update to this century. A pair of scissors capable of cutting zip ties is a must have, IMO.

I think the larger scissors from a 91mm like a huntsman or super tinker would fit just fine. Add in an inline phillips in place of the awl and you'd have a pretty good pocket knife. I'll sign up for one of the fist run!:thumb up:

I believe I've seen a one-off custom SAK like that from one of the modders around here.

I c an't remember the last time I needed a flat screw driver, yet it's a stable on the SAK's. They need to add a phillips or flat phillips on the bottle opener tool, and leave the small flat driver on the can opener for the very occasional flat or small phillips. The scissors can lay in the middle like the saw on a farmer. Maybe make a small section near the pivot of the scissors a bit more robust for light wire cutting.

On current Victorinox knives — and this now includes the Delemont Wenger models — the little nub on the end of the can opener is supposed to be a screwdriver for small Phillips and small slotted screws.

What if the small scissors is combined with the combination tool (can n bottle opener + flatheads) in one layer? Is it possible?

I would say yes its possible. Some things like thickness of the layer and the combined thickness of both tools will come into play, but you would need to measure and see.

A sharp Awl , mine will shave hair , is the best zip tie cutter you will ever find .

Yeah.. The thickness will matter. Just throwing out ideas since i am not a handyman and victorinox is quite expensive in my country to get cheap for trial-and-error modification 😔

The can opener on late model Wengers also has a very sharp edge and point — good for cutting zip ties. It's small, so it can get under the tie, and it's stout and the edge is sharp.

Not too long ago, someone in some thread here — too lazy to look it up — listed all the non-can-opening uses for both Vic and Wenger can openers. It was surprisingly long.
