Sold a couple blades to fund my purchase tonight from Oldawan. After much thought and using the sharpmaker for years I have decided to upgrade. I don't have a need for anything less then a 30deg inclusive cutting edge and I wanted consistency and ease of repeatability so I chose the Wicked Edge over the edge pro.

I went with the pro pack 1 and added the super/extra course diamonds for quick reprofiling as well as an angle cube. Hoping this should be all I need. I will update this thread once it comes as well as after I have a chance to use it!

Excellent choice!!!
I bought the exact same setup except for the super/extra course diamonds, Just sharpened my Becker BK11CSM, The second knife I did on the Wicked Edge,
Been admiring the beautifully sharp edge all night.

How polished of bevel did you end up with using the 3.5 and 5 strops ?

I bought a WE Pro Pack 1 just before the holidays. Since then I have been able to sharpen a few knives. It is absolutely great for re-profiling and every time I use it I think my edges get better. I am very happy with the setup so far. I did not however get the extra course diamonds. Let us know what you think once you have used the extra course stone for a while.

Take care.

I was able to put a seriously sharp and even edge on my BK-11CSM but it is only the second knife I sharpened on the Wicked Edge, I think if I spend a little more time on each grit and Diamond Compund I will be able to get a better polish on the edge, I am considering ordering another set of strops with even finer compound to achieve a mirror polish.

These are the best pics I could get with my little Nikon point and shoot:

Good lookin edge on that bk11 brother! Nice looking bk11 too! I have a bk14 and to get an 11!

My WE just shipped from NM and i am in CO....hope to get it by Wed at the latest!

Thanks Bro!!
I think it came out okay for my 2nd use of the W.E.
You will love it, With the Wicked Edge, Just about anyone
can put a super sharp edge on knives.

Cool!!
As long as you ordered a base you'll just have to mount it and you'll be good to go, Otherwise you have to find something to use and drill it for mounting the sharpener.

RG2 I heard it on the WE forum and followed the advise myself. Go to a thrift store and get a bunch of $1.00 knifes to practice on and also to break in the diamond stones. Your first two knifes should be knifes you do not care about? It takes about 7-10 knifes for the stones to really break in? I ordered fifteen $2.00 knifes off a web site and I'm glad I did!
Your just going to love the WEP set up!!!! It took some practice but now the question is? How just how sharp do I want that knife? Also I bought the chosera stones and I get chrome like finishes on my blades now!

it came yesterday, didnt have much time to play with it. plan on doing some sharpening on it tonight! will update!

i did go ahead and order the 1200/1600 ceramics this morning.......

Got a couple of my Henckel kitchen knives sharpened tonight. both just with a single bevel at 15deg each side. came out hair popping sharp pretty easily. I didn't get much of a mirror polish. Going to wait until I get the 1200/1600 ceramics to attempt mirrored bevels.

Basically identical to what I have for my WE. I don't have the 1200/1600 ceramics but have thought about getting them. Would like to know if you like them and how much better they do for mirrored polishes once you have had a chance to use them.

Used all grits and my new 1200/1600 and stropped with 5 and 3.5 micron. Crappy pic, but heck of a nice mirrored edge and sharp as heck:

looking great Ryan - and your bevels look nice and even too! If you started with the 50 grit you sure did a good job polishing out those scratches

Wow! I used to use my Edge Pro for reprofile work but the 220 grit stone is worn out. Since then I've been doing that work by hand and it is working out well. Seeing the perfect WE edges makes me think I need one soon!
