Was not planning on buying a knife today whatsoever. The reviews were promising, and the sale seemed pretty great. I’ve wanted a Spydie for a while and this seems like a solid one.

If anyone wants a Benchmade 550BK-1, I don’t think I’ll be needing it anymore.

So do you think I made a good buy? Or was it just stupid and impulsive. Still riding that buyer’s high so I can’t tell yet :D

Edit: Pretty sure the sale was gonna end tomorrow since it was end-of-the-year

Why don't you want to keep the Griptillian? Unless you absolutely need the money, just hold on to it, never know when you start to want to rotate your EDC. May even start to buy even more knives then think of all the fun you'll have trying to choose which one to carry for the day.

Keep both just for a bit, see which one you enjoy using more, then sell the other so you can try another folder. I've tried to collect folders, but it suits me more to keep a select few that I'll use and enjoy.

KEEP THE BENCHMADE, Elmax versus CPM20CV. The Spyderco is probably a fine knife but why get rid of a Benchmade.

Not a knife I would purchase; but you weren't shopping for me.
If the knife appeals to you, no worries... if it doesn't, you'll need to work on your impulse control.

MY BUYING IMPULSES HAVE NOT OFTEN TURNED OUT WELL. BUT. YOU HAVE A GOOD KNIFE.

I'd keep the other folders. You never know if you might loose one or want to rotate a bit. I love impulse buys. They are just plain FUN.

The Lil Lionspy is a killer knife. Once I got mine cleaned and sharpened, I'm super happy with it. Factory edge and lube, however, was a very unsatisfactory knife. The factory edge was not very sharp and rather obtuse, and the factory lube was far too thick to make the knife smooth.

That Lil' LionSpy is interesting and not one I've ever really looked at. I've got quite a few Spydies, but none I can think of in Elmax. Is the knife made by lionSTEEL? I've got several by them and am very pleased by their designs and quality. I've definitely been getting into Italian folders more, and, though I sold a Fantoni and a Viper in the last year, I did like those two as well--just wanted to move on and put the money elsewhere.

I'd definitely hang on to the Grip--it's quite different in size, configuration, steel, and lock than your new Spydie--as the two give you a lot of choice for carry on any particular day.

Definitely a good buy. Doesn’t matter what we think though, as long as you like it! After all, it won’t be in our pockets everyday.
But keep the Benchmade. Variety is the spice of life, my friend!
