Howdy folks-

Thanks to the awesome generosity of both K_Estela and jwilliams, I'm now the owner of a RC3! Got it in the mail this afternoon.

My initial impressions are quite positive. The fit and finish are very impressive for a production blade, as is the evident amount of thought that went into this sheath system. It's versatility shows how much respect Rat Cutlery has for the diversity of its customers.

The edge came shaving-sharp (rare for a production blade, as many here know) which is much appreciated. It's the serrated model, however.

The handle is pretty thin but due to it's width is still surprisingly comfortable.

Overall,  !!

But two quick questions:
- Is the edge on the RC4 as sharp as that of the RC3? Or put another way, have owners of both found that the added thickness on the RC4 detracts from the sharpness/cutting ability?

-Are there any differences in handle thickness between the RC3 and RC4?

Thanks much for any info amigos-

Spooky

Welcome to the RAT Pack Spooky ...To me the RC4 is just as sharp I think... and I also think the RC3 & 4 share the same handle ..I am guessing...they do look similar in fit and form though I only have the RC3 on me...and the RC4 is at the house...maybe someone can help out ...Jeff/Mike/Shon/Derrick ?

Welcome to the Pack!

I'm looking at a 3 & 4 right now and they have the exact same handle, with the exception of course being the extra thickness on the RC4 due to blade being 1/4". So yeah there is a diff in overall thickness of the handle but not in the slabs themselves, those are exactly the same on the two models.

Spooky,

The generosity is really from RAT Cutlery as well. They donated the knives for the CT Gathering, but they arrived a day late. :) So, Kevin and I had been trying to come up with a way to get them into the hands of our forum members, and we came up with the "guess-the-moderator" contrest on the fly-- after I strated that thread. :)

So, Jeff and Mike really derserve the kudos for the knives getting to you, since it was their generosity that enabled us to have the contest. Just FYI.

That I did not know! That's another big donation, so thanks to the RC crew as well!! Between things like that, and the monthly drawing and photo contests, you guys give away as much as could be imagined! I'd say it'll put you out of business if you weren't selling such a kick-ass product. :D

Welcome to the club. Now you're a piece of R.A.T. scat just like us. hahaha
