I know I probably can't go wrong with either of these and both strike my fancy: ZT 0550 1st gen(145 from Dave) and the ZT 0700 extra wide tanto (95 from Dave). I was thinking the gen 1 Hinderer design mainly because it is on sale and I might not be able to catch another new gen 1. However I am pretty impartial so give me some feedback, let me know which one you would buy and more importantly why.

Don't get me wrong I love both, but I'd get the 0550. It's blade shape is a little more practical, Ti is cool, and it's customizable, if you were ever so inclined. The 0700 does carry better though, (0550 carries great) if that's a big concern for you.
 
Thanks Total, and yeah how it carries is not the biggest thing, I seem to carry my Spec Elite II and that is wayyyyyy bulky
 
550 all the way. I think the blade shape lends itself to be more useful on the 550 than the tanto of the 700 but that's just me.
 
I own both of those knives and I like the 0550 better. I has a better blade shape IMO and I also like the Ti.
 
550 get my vote but I just don't like tanto blades :p the option to add widely available custom scales to the 550 is just an added bonus.
 
560, but thats me lol. next id say 550 though. Its a decent knife and the 700 is tough to sharpen, but is a Galyean design and he has done some awesome things.
 
Another vote for 550. One of the smoothest knives I own.
 
0550! I'm thinking of starting a 0550 collection akin to the leek/blur groups on here.
 
I really like the 0550 and highly recommend it. Nice beefy build, and it carries surprisingly well for a knife its size. I haven't handled a 0700.
 
I'm going to be different and say.......oh wait, who am I kidding? 550 all the way :)

Not a fan of tantos and the 550 is just so good in the hand.
 
550. It is THE knife to have. I have 5 ZT's and besides my 0200, the 550 is the one i love.....but...you gotta get the one that speaks to you. I have a GEN 1 and it gets more attention than any other knife. " oh let me see that" and "how much will you take for it?" when i use it on hiking trips. Get cool scales and everyone will want it.
