Just looking for a place to vent!

I just got off the phone with my web hosting company because I wanted to make some changes. It seems that they have taken me off of my own web-site account. They claim that someone else is now managing my account. The billing address, email address and phone numbers on the account have all been changed, and I can't do anything about it. I feel like I'm on an episode of the Twilight Zone. They are going to look into it and get back to me in the next 24 hours. In the mean time someone has access to my website and can make changes if they wish. Sorry for venting, but it's driving me nuts!

Ah the vagueries of online identity. Wish I had some sage advice for you. Best I can offer is if you haven't already done so, you ought to pay the extra to have your domain(s) marked as private.

What does that do Greg? I'm not bad a surfing the web, and I built a website for our local gun club years ago, but when I went to build my website I had no idea what I was doing. I would have thought it had gotten easier, but it was much harder. I had a friend build it for me, and I don't really like it much. If anyone has suggestions about building an easy website, I sure would like to hear them. Links to youtube videos or anything. I'm also looking at adding a shopping cart, that's why I tried to log in in the first place.

Do a "whois" for the domain and make sure none of the information has changed.

Did you remember to renew the domain every year?

I had never heard of a "whois" but I did one and it shows all my information correctly. The hosting company just doesn't seem to know that I own the site. I guess I may be looking for a new hosting service shortly. Any recommendations? Something with an easy website building program would be awesome. I also wouldn't mind maybe getting a shopping cart.

I have HostGator too, but have never had any issues.

The easiest way to create a website now is via a Wordpress template.

Youtube has a ton of easy to follow tutorials.
