This knife is an absolute pleasure to carry, and to use. The 3G blade steel came extremely sharp, and even though I've used it some, still has that hair popping edge. If I read correctly, the inner core of steel is a 62-64 on the Rockwell scale, which is the hardest blade I guess I have. I tried some pb washer's on the pivot, but they did not do anything but make it much harder to open, and with the small thumbstud, and the jimping on the end of it, I ended up with a very sore thumb. So the other day I put the teflon washers it came with back on it. Opening is now so smooth, and the blade is centered perfectly. With the pb washers I could not quite get the blade centered, and for someone who is anal, and probably has a bad case of the OCD, that uncentered blade just weighed on my mind. I know, STUPID!!:D;) At any rate, I'm currently carrying the PXL, mine has the ivory micarta grips, and enjoying it very, very much. Though small, that 6.2 ounces it weighs gives it a very solid feel in my hand, and I like that. I do wish it had the deep-carry clip mounted on the rear end for tip up carry, but it is manegable with the tip down. Another I like is the lockup. I gave the lock bar a tiny bit more bend, and it has to be the stiffest liner lock I have, and I count that as a POSITIVE feature. I'm pretty sure this knife is made for Fallkniven in Japan, but does anyone know which company in Japan manufacturers it? Is it Moki, or Mcusta, or another company? Whoever builds it, does an excellent job in my estimation!:)

Here it is with the rest of my daily carry;

Very nice knife, OP! I have a little U2 folder and really enjoy carrying/using it. It's made me curious about the more premium Fallkniven folders...

Is that convex ground?

Very nice knife. Wanted one since they came out. Perhaps someday.

The PXL is a great knife. I think it is easily as well made as the more popular “premium” brand. The knife simply exudes quality.

I too have wondered who makes Fallkniven folders. I thought it was Moki, but I don’t know for sure.

Al Mar and Fallkniven folders are some of the nicest production folders I’ve ever owned. If Moki makes these brands then they are definitely one of the top production knife manufacturers in the world.

Mastiff, my PXL did not come with a convex ground blade.

I happen to have a PXL in maroon micarta. F&F was excellent and this is one knife I don't regret buying. I used to cover the steel bolsters with cloth tape when I was using it for EDC to prevent scratches and dings on it.

It seems that Fallkniven had introduced a new version of the PXL in Grilon (grippy nylon?) and laminated Cobalt Steel blade and considerably cheaper than the micarta PXLs. They aren't available readily just yet.

Nice looking knife, the PXLwh. But it was the micarta handles, exposed steel liner, and steel bolsters that just made the whole package for me. I want to get the maroon micarta handled PXL down the road, and figuring it will be a short road!

BC already answered, and I'll just second, the blade edge is not convexed, but it is extremely sharp!

I did not see a pocket clip in the PXLwh pictures shown on the website if the front bolster is plastic it might not get one.It also has the uprgraded blade steel lam3g or something like that and it is not much
cheaper plus you could not see any steel liners in the pictures so what does the liner lock lock into.

Hi Liverwood,
you are correct there is no pocket clip on the new PXLwh, it´s just a plane folder for everyday work or a EDC as some call it.
Regarding the steel, it´s a new steel we have started to use, it´s a Laminated Special Cobolt steel 60 HRC yes i know it´s not a powder steel, but we really like this steel it holds a sharpness very well better than VG10 but not as good as 3G (but pretty close). Here in Sweden the PXLwh is about half the price of a PXLim or PXLmm.
And yes it has steel liners!

Best regards

I was once really taken with Fallkies and whilst my TK3 is the classiest folder that I own, I just can't justify the cost. About a year ago, I switched my fixed blade purchased to Bark River and given the choice of handle materials and blade steels I just can't see the value in these Fallknivens.

Sure, they are well made but better than ZT? Not in my book. Not wishing to put a dampener on this thread - just my opinion...

Ben

to the OP, where does the "magnum" in your title come from? is that a personal designation? I have never seen that in reference to the PXL...

The Magnum PXL has a thumb stud. The standard PXL has a nail nick.

My Zero Tolerance knives are nowhere near the overall quality of my PXL. Most noticeably in the lock-up. The PXL is rock solid and the ZTs will break loose if you happen to bump the back of the blade. Sort of makes me want to get rid of the ZTs.
