I was bored and figured I would try a couple of mods on my barlow. Here is what I did:

EZ Open mod
Polished micarta
Forced patina

I like it. Its an edc.

How did you do the easy open notch? Dremel?

yeah, most of the work was done with the dremel, sandpaper and large buffer. The notch works great. I redid the patina and will post better pics today.

Wow, that must take a lot of confidence to take a dremel to nice knife. Looks good. It looks like it could have come from GEC like that.

Nice dremel work!
Might I suggest an alternative, in the sake of ease of comparable results?
A 3/4"-1" sanding drum depending on finger size, and a drill/drill press. I find that placing the EO notch at the ring fingers location is most comfortable while offering plenty of leverage.
- It makes for a nice, neat and clean circle of your desired sizing.

Again, Nice work, I bet you loved it immediately.

Nice, thanks.

I like the matching patina on the spring, it Really makes those liners pop.

Great job.

Nice looking knife and mods however my knife can be opened by pinch gripping the blade without an easy open notch. Even if one has a problem with a pinch grip the long pull on the blade provides sufficient leverage to open the knife but I do love easy opening notches.

Now that's impressive! You've done a good job all the way around. There's something to be said for a "special" knife that will fill so many useful purposes. When it looks that good, it reminds me of an expression my father used. I'd be willing to bet that you're happier than a "speckled pup under a red wagon". Right? ;)

Real nice and clean job. It looks like it was meant to be there. Love the patina too....was that vinegar or a special recipe?

Nice job. Looks very functional. The patina was a nice touch.

I have added notches to several knives and never regretted it, nicely done! The matching patina on the spring is terrific, how did you do it without getting the liners too?

Wow, that looks great! I have the same model and may have to try adding a notch. I love how they feel in hand with that extra detail.
