Hows it going everybody my name is Colton. Im not sure this goes here, but Ill give it a shot. I just moved to Portland after living in San Diego, CA working at a shop building and maintaining offroad race cars. Ive made a few knifes from files, nothing to fancy, but they worked. I really want to learn how to properly make knifes. Im very eager to learn from someone who knows what they are doing. Even just watching you work and maybe lending a hand when you need it. I will bust my ass and work harder and harder to try and perfect the craft. If anyone is willing to give me a chance you will not be disappointment. Thanks for lookin!

I live 100 or so miles south of you and grew up in San Diego. There are some production knife companies in Portland that might offer leads and tips for you in your hunt for work. CRKT, BENCHMADE, ZERO TOLERANCE/KERSHAW come to mind. best of luck in your hunt and welcome to Oregon

I highly recommend you join the Oregon Knife Collectors club. They had their annual show back in April, but I'm pretty sure they can point you to some good resources.

Wow I did not realize those big names were all based around Portland. Ill be going to check them out thanks! And for some reason I cant get on the Oregon Knife Collectors Clubs website, but ill keep trying thanks!

Hey welcome to the area! There are a lot of custom makers up and down the PNW coast, and we have some great shows too. (knife shows, but also concerts too)

Yep... Also Leathermans, Gerber, Al Mar, although I don't think Al Mar does much there other than Warehouse and warranty work.
Murry Carter is a very famous custom maker and IIRC he lives just a little S.E of PDX in Hillsboro. There are others but I'm having a tough time
remembering names...
Bob Lum was a very famous maker and designer, and he lived south of PDX in Eugene, but sadly he passed several years back. My point to mentioning
him too, is that Oregon seems to be a mecca for knife makers...

Welcome to Oregon. The big OKCA show in Eugene is a must see. Plan on spending most of the day there though, because there is
a lot to see...
