Just my opinion (Spyderco and Benchmade heavy)

It's been a while since I've posted, but I felt the need to express my opinions. I'll list companies and comments as follows:

Spyderco-I still think the SWICK and previous SPOT are THE BEST NECK/CONCEALED CARRY fixed blades I've ever owned. Enough said. As far as their Hossum fixed blade coming out, I love the design (it is a Hossum knife, after all)! Admittedly, I would have preferred it in a good carbon steel (5160, A2, 3V, 52100, etc.). In big chopping blades, I just prefer something tough, and we all know that carbon steels are better than stainless for this type of chore. Regardless, Spyderco kicks ass.

Benchmade-I own a Nimravus Cub of ATS34 that I purchased a LOOOOOng time ago. It holds a good edge, is easy to sharpen, and has an absolutely perfect utility profile. Why Benchmade discontinued the Cub is beyond me. I had originally purchased a full-size Nimravus, but upon first looking at it I knew it would not hold up in the enviroment it was meant to be used in (northern MN wilderness). Other than size, the NIM and CUB are spitting images of eachother. The steel thickness is great for the cub, but the full sized Nimravus, in my opinion, should be 5/32 of an inch. The blade is just too thin for its length. My opinion.

Oh yeah, and Benchmade needs to bring back the AFCK, TSEK, and an AXIS Stryker (ALL in S30v and AXIS LOCKS)!

That's all for now. What are your thoughts?

I give the Nim a thumbs up for being a fine cutter due to its thinner blade.

Having played with the liner-lock version and the Axis version of the AFCK, I can now see why many preferred the liner version. Still like the 806, but the 800 sees pocket time too.

An Axis Stryker may be too long for its purpose, but a Ti framelock would be nice.

I'm still in the decision mode for S30V. But with you on the carbon steel; preferrably HS tool for folders and blades less than 5-inches.

I give Spyderco credit for variety and quality.
