This has probably been done to death and back over here, but after talking to someone about your khuks, do they still think it's a cheap Pakistani job? Even after explaining and showing the site all they can come up with is, "Those are still WAY overpriced, I can get one for $2" or "Watch out, those things are made so cheap the blade can fly off the handle!". Even after splitting wood in my backyard, I still hear how the "chrome" is amazingly still on the blade. So what's a guy to do? How do you guys handle this crap without resorting to getting a little ticked about it?

Don,
Sorry man, but some people refuse to learn. I say that you should let them be.
They will hurt themselves if you give'em one. Besides, why would you want to if they cant see what a quality blade it is when you show them?

Your situation is very similar to what happened to me last week. My mail man and a neighbor met me at the road and I had my AK with me. Yes, I heard that chrome bit like you. I pulled out the blade and told them to look at the blade and then look at the bumpers on their vehicles, and if they can't tell the difference between polished steel and Chrome they sure have a sight problem.:D

Like Harley Davidson owners say, "If I have to explain it to you, you wouldn't understand anyway."

No sense casting pearls before swine.

Amen to that Raghorn. That could work for just bikes in general. I'll be 66 pretty soon and I'm still ridin. Probably will till I can't get my leg over the thing anymore.:)

The woods are full of blithering idiots.

Natural selection just hasn't had time to run its course yet.

I've been accused of causing threads to wander, but this one gots wheels :) Pap, I haven't been able to throw a leg over a bike for several years, and I only have one year on you. They're holding the annual Teddy Bear run in Bowling Green today, for a kid's charity, and it is bringing everybody out of winter storage (34° this AM). Went to R'ville to re-stock the beans, and chatted with a couple in the parking lot, saw many on the road, but I don't miss it much (see thread about waders, chest waders, wet suits and stilts :( )

Yeah, I'm done with bikes. Nothing like riding down that long lonesome highway in a hail storm.

Don Rac,

I just tell people like that "you obviously don't know knives very well, learn something about the subject before you open your mouth."

That's my younger Bro telling the bastards just how it is. I didn't have to teach him either.:D

The quickest way to deal with people like that is to say, "Gee, you must be really stupid to think such a thing as ignorance can be taught to the betterment of everyone, pity." Then grin great big so as to possibly make the stupid person think you were tzn.:D

Guess it's actually the same thing my younger Bro said. Ainnit?:D

Cherokee Grandmother used to advise me, "never agrue with a fool. I can't tell you why but he will."

She was right. I get kick out of agreeing this them. "Yeah, I think you're right. Probably chrome plated."

Re the plated blade thing:

"Today's service kukris...The construction is crude, the blade plated...."

This from "Military Gurkha Issue Kukris" by P.A.Hayes in Army Museum '84, the annual of the National Army Museum(UK),describing the Service No.1.Funny thing is,the photos of the khuks being described don't look plated to me.

Hey guys some of those suggestions are pretty good and funny. Sure beats just staying silent and giving that stare. Speaking of Harley's what's up with their V-Rod? Certainly looks different than what they normally put out.

On the subject of motorcycles
My '56 NSU Spezialmax is my weekend ride to the office. I had a rig setup on her for my favorite Durba. It gets a few looks at lights.

Ask Tsimi for what he did whe he had the problem with someone who was ignint about khuks! very funny and effective

An excellent reason to get a few more khuks - for "loaner" purposes.

Helping out natural selection never hurt.....me, that is ;)

As you know I ran into one of these morons (actually two of them) at a local knife shop awhile back. I like all the above comments and a few had me laughing out loud. But I must say that Uncle Bill's tickles me the most:

I get kick out of agreeing this them. "Yeah, I think you're right. Probably chrome plated."

I'd like to add that at this point you should proceed to split firewood, chop up a car, pry a locked car trunk open(theirs) and chop some cow bones, and THEN say:

"DAMN, they sure make chrome better'n they used to!" :D:D

It's a Honda disguised as a Harley. :barf:
