I bought a BK-7 about two weeks ago and I foolishly thought it would satisfy my Becker craving. Nope. The BK-10 was calling my name whenever I looked at my BK-2 and wished it had a thinner blade. I caved today.

Tell me about it....got 3 beckers in the past month...! Got a 7 first,a 5 second and came across a good deal on a 7 i couldn t pass 3rd...! That one will be experiencing some heavy mods as soon as next week...
Telling you,it's a DESEASE...

I recently gave my older 7 to the teen aged son of a good friend...and proceeded to get a bunch of crap for giving him "such a huge knife". (I had his father's approval, for the record).

Like most of the regulars on this forum, I've got plans for a few more (some will be duplicates, for modification); but I'm losing some hours at work, so I have to exercise some restraint for a while.

And to think tonight a friend of ours visiting was shuddering at how big my 2 is. Can't imagine what she would have said about a 7 (or a *gasp* 9!).

Her husband was fine with it (and the 3), but she just kept talking about that "big scary knife" you have. I was explaining that there is nothing scary about it, it is a tool and she kept saying "yeah but it's a knife."

Some people just aren't willing to learn, I suppose....

Mine are also multiplying - planning to order a 14 soon!

You all are on a downward spiral, but fear not, it leads to more Beckers!

Yeah - I'm not sure what relation (if any) these guys were to the kid. Both thought having a knife that size was nothing short of ridiculous, saying it was too big to be of any use & making the not unexpected (at that point, anyway) Rambo comments. I explained that useful size, too big, and huge were all very subjective concepts; and agreed that when compared to small fixed blades, the BK7 does appear HUGE...of course, I followed that by saying that there are knives that make the 7 look small; and that I consider the 7 a nice medium sized knife.

They were pretty impressed with how well Jason used the knife to quickly process some wood & get a fire going, after which he cleaned it off and used it to cut his chicken at dinner. That part WAS pretty funny - but he was clearly excited about his new knife so nobody teased him.

Sorry to hijack your thread with my story, jbass; are you going to keep your 10 as is, or tweak it a little?

No apologies needed. I enjoyed the story. My 2, 7, 9 and 16 are all stock. When the coatings get too far gone I am thinking about the bare metal look. In the meantime I am giving serious thought to de-ramping some of them.

I love my 10. Haven't had it a week and already did some mods to it. Perfect size for a belt knife
