Just Ordered a BK9

Hey Becker fans, I just ordered my first actual Becker product the Becker BK9! I have a Ka-Bar USMC but it doesn't really work great for heavy chopping. Really looking forward to it as I was looking for a heavy duty large fixed blade for a while and figured the Becker would suit my needs. I hope it lives up to the high expectations I have and I'll post my impressions when it arrives next week.

Welcome to the Becker forum. I believe you will be VERY happy with your BK9, I know I am with mine. Pics are required when you get it.

Sweet.

A BK9 is going to be my first Becker too, the wife insists I have to wait until christmas to get it though. :grumpy: :D

good stuff. you're going to be very happy with it! it's a good idea to put a drop of blue loctite on the screws and re-tighten it before field use.

If you're as generous towards the USMC Kabar as to say 'it doesn't chop great', then I think you'll be head-over-heels for the BK9.

Yeah well the sad part is the USMC chops about as well as the stupid Wal Mart machete one of my friends brings when we go to the woods. That thing SUCKS and yes it deserves to have that word in all caps. And I did my homework on the knife before buying I'm definitely putting some Locktite on those bolts and making sure they're nice and snug. Also considering getting the Micarta grips from Tomar's Kabars but I'm going to wait and see how I like the Grivory before I pull the trigger on that.

I got such a bad itch for one, and it's worse today... that and a CS Trailhawk under my tree, would make me ecstatic... are you listening Santa?

With my 1217's, I use a cross grain baton method to "chop" so to speak. That's the way I was taught to do the tough work with it. Its definetly a good knife, but, its a Combat/Utility design, not Boreal Beater. Equally good in the woods, as it is in an enemys ribcage, ya dig?

God I love those knives. I got 2 brand new put up for my girls when they get big enough. My oldest asks to "see" her's every couple of weeks. She takes it out of the box, holds it, then goes "Someday" and puts it up. I can't wait.

BK-9 - what's not to like? Of course you realize - you are contractually obligated to post pics of it when you get it. Else, we WILL haunt you. :D

Okay okay, I'll post pics! I'm actually even planning on doing a video so I'll post a link when I do.
