no bo-hi. cant wait to get it. seems like a pretty good sword for $230. i'll tell you guys what i think when it comes in. i also ordered sharp phils book street sword.see what i can learn.

tenchi came in today, wow its a heavy piece! I know some folks said that it was hit or miss with cheness well this was definatly a hit.sword is fitted very nice. handle is tight blade finish is nice. compared it to my buddies bugei and its definatly a user.now i know what they mean by a heavy sword. this is my first sword so i figured heavier the better, but now i see.buddies bugei is much lighter feeling and very graceful. tenchi feels like you could beat down a telephone pole. all in all it seems well worth the money.definatly a durable piece and while it is not as perfect as the bugei it is still nice. i think i would like to get something a little shorter next. like the chisa. sharp phils book street sword came in too. definatly a good book for beginers.easy to read and he gets the point across to get proper instuction before any sword play,( if i can use that term). and seeing how razor sharp my sword is im definatly gonna get some instrution. so all in all im happy with my purchases. my only complaint would be the tenchi is just a little longer and heavier than i expected.

I have Cheness Yamakami - optimised for Batto so a bit heavy and fittings are only so-so but I would stake my life on it - awesome blade

I have a Cheness Tenchi with no bo-hi, but I don"t think its heavy at all. Just pick up a Cold Steel katana and you should feel the difference, weight isn't an issue as much as balance.
Edit to add: Didn't read all posts.... Bimmer1 was right, Cold Steel's are heavy.
...and tip heavy.

its heavyer than i imagined it would be. but what a well built sword. i cant believe they can sell such a nicely fitted piece so cheap. im going to buy a dynasty ko katana after the holidays. read a lot about them lately, all positive.
