Hello all, I just ordered three cold steel knives from SMKW. They are the Bolo Machete, the Panga Machete, and the true flight thrower. On the machetes, what should I expect from such inexpensive knives? How much work is it going to be to get them good and sharp? Any reviews would be appreciated. Also... any suggestions on a good sheath for the thrower? Thanks for the replys.

I own the Bolo version.

The Bolo blade shape makes for a nice forward-heavy chopper. It's a good machete for the price with a comfortable, beefy handle.

It doesn't rust easily, even though its blade is made of non-stainless steel (might be due to the baked on coating). However, the steel rolls easily, but bringing it back to a good edge is quite easy.

The Cold Steel machetes are not sharp out of the box in order to keep the price down.

The Panga is definitely a good performer for the money. Suprisingly the handle holds up very well to prolonged and hard use. My thoughts were that the handle would eventually show signs of separating from the tang but this was not the case at all.

My experience is that the uncoated edge will rust very easily if not cared for, however, the coating on the blade holds up extremely well. Better than my BT coated Benchmades.
