Well, found an amazing deal for the Dozier folder in Foliage Green floating down the River. Just under $20 with free shipping, couldn't pass that up! I didn't really need another folder( I just bought a CS Spartan for my EDC), but I was going to do some traveling soon in a state where, I think, the max blade size is 3". Are the Dozier folders good for EDC? This will be my first Ka-Bar folding knife.

I bought a coyote tan one a couple years ago. It's my work edc along with a sak. I think you you will like it. It's thin, light and will disappear in your pocket.

Congrats! I have one of the old 440C versions, and I still use it all the time.

Best deals going in terms of bang for the buck? My list...

Ka-Bar Dozier folders
Victorinox SAKs
Mora knives
ESEE Avispa and Zancudo folders

Good call on the dozier! One of the best price/quality folders out there. Got some pics of your new steel?

I love mine!

I definitely agree on that, but I'd include Opinel folders, Buck Vantage Pro, and Beckers :D

Unfortunately, to get the free shipping, I have to wait until the 2nd to 5th of January. Great looking little knife for sure.

Just got my kabar dozier today and it's great but the blade is very stiff to open (compared to my RAT II). Any one have an idea how to fix this balky blade. It'll be my edc if so. I tried loosening the pivot screw and a drop of oil.

IMHO, I think things are somewhat limited via the materials used and the construction. While adjusting the tension on the pivot screw can likely give some improvement it will lead to increased side play in the open blade too. Playing with it may get you to a satisfactory medium. I still find it a very good knife for the asking price.

You could try lithium grease. I use it on all my hand tools. Get a pair of linesman pliers wet and try opening them the next day haha. I know, $10 lube on a $20 knife...but that stuff works wonders on everything.
Welcome to the boards! We like pics, let us see your blade when you get a chance!
I don't own a dozer yet so not really much help as far as experience goes.

Yes. For the price, they are quite good.

I picked up a Mini Dozier and Dozier pair in Blaze Orange on 25%-off sale from a BF vendor about a month ago. I really like the 3" Dozier's blade with its thick spine and high hollow ground spear point. I prefer to carry it loose in my pocket instead of clipped.

When new, it was a little stiff but loosened up after a while. Not really a quick opener though.

I won an Lime Green one in a GAW and have been EDCing it ever since. Love it, absolutely love it.

Agreed. Also I'd like to point out that the lock spring tension on the closed blade has a lot to do with it [does in mine, anyway]. It's not that bad though, really. It certainly isn't a "quick deploy tactical fighter" but it's fast enough for anything else I need it for.

Did I say I love mine? :D

I keep toying with the idea of picking up one of these Dozier folders....actually toying with the idea of picking up too many things right now....

I own 4071 and a 4062. The 4062 took me 2weeks to break in,(around 800 openings) and a bloody thumb. Once it breaks in you'll love it, you would need a little wrist flick to deploy, or you would have to hit the thumbs stud real hard. The aus8 gets shaving sharp with ease, but maintains a good edge. It has no washers so it could be taken apart easily. One downside is the coating fells off easily. Hope that helps and I hope you would like your new knife

I'm taking mine on vacation in a few months. Incredibly light weight, stain less, and inexpensive, perfect for vacation imho.

I would love to see one with a longer blade length, something like the spyderco endura

I am a big fan of these knives! They are combine a nice sized handle with a good blade, they are easy to carry and use and you really cant beat them for $20 or so. I have owned 3-4 of them and I keep giving them away to people who admire them- attached is a pic of my black dozier which has been my EDC for a couple of years and the new Zombie green one that I just acquired. Two of the Doziers I have given away had the black blade coating and yes it does wear off pretty easily but they are still a good value and hold an edge very well. I do prefer the design of the 4065 with the plain blade and large thumb opening-it is easy to deploy with my XXL sized hands. I have just ordered the 4084-Big Easy Slip Joint model online and cant wait until it arrives- I like the looks of the clean steel and micarta handles- all for $20!

I'm going to get my Dad one of these for Father's Day since he currently caries a *cough*Gerber*cough* and could really used some better steel.

Can't really beat the price...!
