So i just ordered a nilakka, mainly because i wanted one for a the better part of a year if not longer for reasons of just because and i have lots of shrink wrap to slay( i would like to slay boxes as well ) and issued box cutters get lost and or break and im just not a fan of chasing after one. I have been using my s30v/g10 manix 2 on the slick which is great and my go to folder and figured something more specialized wouldnt be the end of the world

I understand they come with a small bevel now and ill go with it and maybe make it slightly more pronounced, im not sure yet, ill just figure that out as i go. I do want reasonable useablity. but if worse comes to worse, for work i can just slip the manix into the back pocket

on a side not and off topic i also found a knife i bought years ago and lost, a kershaw MBK(chinese made, but with that german steel which is established, but i cant remember.) gonna hund down a better sheeth or make one here at some point.

Knife should be in by tomorrow to boot since the place i order from is fairly close

A GB cmp4 was very close, and im eyeballing the hell out of those. I kinda hate spyderco for this crap.

Yes I saw a post about it in general on a different thread

Looking forward to this knife a lot

Knife may be in late cause I forgot to specific ups. USPS makes it seem like someone is walking the package in comparison

so it came in and i started testing it out with one of the main things i cut through, shrink wrap

The knife is the 2nd gen and has the micro bevel.

At any rate, this knife is incredibly sharp, it melts the plastic! All was going smooth and my heart skipped a beat for a second when a co worker just picked it up and put the blade right through the top of a tub of ice cream, given the initial reviews of the knifes weaknesses, i was concerned. But the knife came out looking the same. Sure it wasnt cool, but i have found a few knife enthusiasts in this group, and the guy was pulling a joke that some do apparently if you leave a knife out. Which with for example my manix 2 this wouldnt have concerned me at all. I dont expect people to understand if a particular knife may be more sensitive. Needless to say it went back into my pocket between uses. And it was a good test that i wasnt gonna pull right away!

ill start cutting some thicker stuff tomorrow and see how it goes from there before i make up my mind about enhancing the micro bevel.

The knife itself is very well made and everything about it is on point. I wasnt surprised about it, since i had vallaton and thats just how the Taiwanese production is on these. Its very precise QC.

Oh well, then it is all in good fun! As long as it is an inside joke... it doesn't matter if they thrash your gear!

I hope you gave them a fair warning stating that the next time he pulls that kind of crap on you... you will be pulling your own version of the stunt stabbing the knife to the hilt into his leg!

A good friend of mine used the tip of an Opinel (which we all know is very very thin) to pry a tab from a tuna can (he bites his nails so he couldn't pull it appart using them) and bent like 3mm of the tip to a 90º angle. He is still semi deaf from my yelling...

Sure, i could loose my cool, and have to do it a few times probably, since there is quite a few people working there. Or just put the knife back in my pocket between uses and not worry about it.

I pretty much never loan out my knives to be used, unless i really know the person, and even then its with some instructions, but ill usually do the cutting myself.

Considering this isnt really about that, and no damage was done, and everything is and will be fine i could not care less, especially when its about as easy to repocket it than get mad about it with potentially who knows how many people over time while working there.

Im glad you were able to blow your top with a friend over an opinel. I think if a friend of mine damaged one of my items they would understand and opt to replace it without a shouting match because they are friends and i tend not to make friends with kids that need to be yelled at.

Situation dictates and being a prick isnt always the answer, so dont tell me how the nature of my emotional response should be and how to respond. I'll respond as i feel warrants for the situation.

Don't take me wrong, I am not telling anyone how to behave. At least thats not what I intended. I understand every situation is different, and the response should be different as well.

Regarding de Opinel, of course I didn't bite his head off. It is just a beater that stays in a drawer in my campervan. I just sharpened it out and that's about it. BUT, now he knows well what NOT to do with my blades.

All good mikel

I loan out a manix 2 it's an excellent beater. I've thought about passing it off or gifting but I'd be lost without a knife that I can just not be concerned with. I go over dos and donts when loaning and let the person know the cost of replacement

No problems so far on that

Yes thumper it feels great not in a rush to change them out

Looks like a nice knife.
Only question/comment i have is, im guessing you work in a warehouse or grocery.

By the cutting plastic rap, and your buddy/fellow employee sticks your knife hilt deep in a tub of icecream. That i assume is going to be sold to someone.
Sounds like he probably should have been fired at the least docked for the contaminated food from that dirty ass knife you had been using to "melt" through plastic rap.

Back on topic, nice knife
