So I just ordered one of the New One tons. I think it will be really good knife, especially for 30 dollars. Have any of you used this one or the Half Ton?

I picked up one a few weeks ago at AG....this knife is a wider scamp, not thicker, but 1/2" wider....and the frame lock is a beast the depress, thats the only thing I don't like so far. Also much the same as the scamp, the thumbstud on the clip side catches on your pocket during removal, easy fix with a grinder or file.

Hasn't cut a thing, opened 20-30 times, locks engaging pretty far in for a new knife

I've got a Half Ton and like it. It's taken up residence in the toolbox in my garage and serves miscellaneous tasks, the most recent of which was sharpening a pencil. It's a decent size, has a reasonably stout blade, and looks kinda cool (stubby profile, mini-wrench pocket clip, and red FRN handles w/ black rubber inserts). The knife opens smoothly and quickly, locks up solid, and is easy to open and close one-handed (bare-handed and with light work gloves). Came razor sharp from the factory, and it holds an edge decently well (8Cr13MoV steel).

I like the looks of the one ton I for one am sure glad that they got rid of the awful looking red handle(I guess I shouldn't complain to much it is a 10 dollar knife) in favor of much nicer and more practical G10.

I own as well and agree with everything DAPRO said its hard to release the lock bar and it catches in your pocket but overall a good knife for the 20 bucks!

I too was looking to purchase this knife, then I saw that it was made in China, is this true? Has Kershaw given in to the dark side?

What do you mean dark side? Kershaw started as an import only manufacturer, and have always had products brought in from overseas. We didn't start making products in the US till 1999. So I'm confused. Is there a problem with manufacturing in China?

LOL, I've been out of buying knives for a long time, I bought one of the first A/Os from Kershaw many years ago and one of the things I thought was great about them was that they were made in the good ol USA.

Now looking that you are a mod and you have Kershaw knives listed in your sig looks like it's a debate I will lose.

But I come from a blue collar family that worked and retired from the steel factories, so from my point of view outsourcing some of their products to China = bad/dark.

I would rather pay more and have it be made in the USA.

There is no winning or losing here, just discussion. It's all good.

While I appreciate your past, IMO it's important you keep from generalizing and look for perspective and understanding with each individual situation.

There are no USA jobs lost because we import product. Our factory runs too capacity. There is no room for additional machines or manpower. We're all full here, our duty as a US employer couldn't be more fulfilled. Expansion within the corporation is not an option at this time, nor would I look to should there be one.

Kai is a Japanese owned company. We make a ton of products all over the world.

There are a lot of products we can't produce here in our US facility. We have limitations. Wish we could do it all, but we're not close to being able to.

Importing assists in supporting the US facility and the workers that we value. To think there something dark with all of this is incorrect in my eyes.

It jjust came in today and I'm really impressed. It feels like a lot for only 30 dollars. I also love the aesthetics, it was one of the main attractions of the knife. I also don't mind 8CR13MOV either. You have to sharpen it a little often but it's done in about 5 minutes, at least for me on my benchstones. The only thing I find on the knife MIGHT be a problem is the handle is a little blocky so there might be some hand fatigue with really extensive use, but for 99% of EDC activities it will serve perfectly. Kershaw FTW, again. I can't decide whether to get the Tremor or the ever illustrious Skyline next. With Kershaws affordability, I'll probably just get both or save for a ZT 305 or one of those new ZT 777s, or a...hell just another Kershaw.
