I work with horses and noticed that the rescue blur has been discoed for 2012. Been thinking about a rescue knife for cutting horses free. If you have ever seen a horse trainwreck you will understand why every cowboy carries a couple of sharp knives. Thought I'd better score one while they are still in stock at dealers. Got a sexy looking red one coming!

George.

Got mine too.
The blade looks ugly but should do the job in a rescue situation.

Sometimes the places I shoe horses at have these unbreakable ties on each side of the horse. I try and remember to insert a piece of string that will break, if the horse has a meltdown he automaticaly frees himself. Cross tied in stronger stuff they can hurt themselves thrashing around. Horses can get caught a foot caught in their halters, get rope on their feet, get caught in their tack etc. The trainwreck possibilities are numerous. When I am around horses I keep a sheepsfoot blade in my left pocket razor sharp that I only use in emergencies to cut them free. I keep a regular blade in my right front for cutting hay bales open and other farm related stuff. Now I have the blur as a cooler rescue knife than the sheepfoot. :)

i have had my red rescue blur for a few years now. it is a ugly knife, but i love it. that little carbide tip on the back of the handle is amazing for taking out auto glass. when i took my EMT class in 09 i had a chance to use it to take out a bunch of car windows and was surprised at how easily it broke them. too bad kershaw did away with it.
