What's everyone's opinion of this light? I was just looking for something small and a little more power output than my 4D Mag. I don't need anything Surefire bright, though I am considering at some point down the road getting an L4 (a friend has an L4 and every time I think the word Surefire everything dims and I see a big blue blob in front of my eyes).

I've handled these lights before and they seem to be very well made and pretty bright, but I never got to spend too much time with one. I'm just looking for something to get me around in the dark in case a hike takes a little longer than I planned and to find the damn keyhole when I forget to turn my porch light on before I leave for work (which happens with alarming regularity).

I've been thinking about one for a long time and Tad Gear had a good price so I said what the hell. I still love my 4D Mag but have decided to put it in my car (to replace my aging 3D Mag).

i have an X5, its not as bright as a SF, but is a good utility light, my only real prob w/it is the batts may last a pretty good while but it seems to start to dim pretty quick imho, and even with new batts its not real bright, an ok lite imho. i prefer the newer model LED cant remember the model # now myself.

I like my X5, and it puts out a reasonable amount of light, but are you really telling me that it puts out more light than your 4D Mag? I guess that the wide flood beam makes it look less than it is, but still that seems a little excessive.

I like my inova x5. I carry it as my edc along with my surefire z2. I ordered a new one with red leds from LApolicegear.com where they are listed at $27.99 which is the lowest price I've ever come across. Has anyone heard of LApolicegear?

Whether or not it puts out more light really isn't the point I guess, I was really looking for something a little smaller that I can carry in a pocket and leave the Mag in the car.

Granted that 4D mag is pretty bright, but awfully heavy... makes my pants fall off when I try to put it in my pocket, and no one wants that.

It's a terrific light.
Bulletproof, nice output, GREAT runtime, Fairly inexpensive. Everything you can ask for in a light.

I don't carry my X5, since it has no clip and I'd like to carry my light (E2e) like a knife. I leave it on my desk now, right next to my Opinel. I love it for it's runtime, and my "dead" batteries from the E2e can go into the X5, and power that for a while; that's probably why I still have it.

I don't think the X5 is bighter than a 4D Mag. But expect a much smoother beam, and the light will have a slightly blue tint.

I EDC my X5T with 6' of paracord, along with and E2e-HA with an L4 head on it.

The X5T provides, as has been said. a great amy of utility light. It also finishes off my 123's from my SF products.

Good light. Good choice.

my X5 is not as bright as a 4 'D' maglite, not anywhere near as, doesnt have near the range, does have more spill though, light around the edges, which makes it good for working on things (ie cars) at night.

I have an Innova X5, and it is a great light, but it is no where as near as bright as a Sure Fire. It is an excellent LED. Personally, I think the X5 is great for reading a map in the car, but NOT for a regular flashlight. I LOVE my X5. I also got the kydex sheath that has a tritium dot in it.

I've had at least 5 or 6 of them (currently have one of the first gen ones in blue).

Can't say I'm a huge fan. I prefer them brighter and I don't think the runtime is all that great. Sure it'll give you 10 or more hours but the drop off after the first two hours is pretty significant.

It's a great light for some people but just doesn't do it for me.

Thanks everyone. It's on backorder from tad gear, unfortunately :(.

For what I need the light to do, it's gonna be absolutely perfect. When the funds are there, I'll get a Surefire; but for finding my way around in the dark or looking for my house key, the Inova is perfect.

FWIW the G2 surefires are only like $30 or so..............another good cheap one is the streamlite twin task, pros are its LED and incandescent, cheap, cons are its LED isnt as bright as the inova, the incan isnt nearly as bright as a SF. the G2 SF's are just as good as the metal case ones imho.

I EDC my Inova X5-T with a 550 paracord lanyard attached to it.

I carry it in my front pocket, vertically, head down, next to my wallet which keeps it in vertical position. The lanyard dangles outside my jeans pocket for ""quick draw" access, and it functions quite well at that, too.

The X5 works well for walking the dog or for lighting my path at night. Great close area floodlight. Great runtime. Great EDC light.

I carry a SureFire E2e and E1e for those instances when I need throw.
