Congrats! Excellent choice. I am certain you will be happy with it. I was going to get the BK10 but opted for the BK7 in Desert color. Did you get the Desert color or the original?

SRKW are excellent knives, too. You won't be disappointed if you got either. Welcome and enjoy your drug.

shmoopiebear : got it in black. i like the desert color, but black was a little more apealing and seemed to stand out a little less.

as so far as not getting the SRKW, im really just testing the fixed blade for my lifestyle before i start to spend the bigger dollars. thanks for the input from you guys though.

I've been looking at the same knife. It's the first fixed blade (that isn't a khukuri) to grab my attention in a while.

Cool.., I was looking at that knife the other day. Looks like the sheath is pretty darned good too, so please let us know how you like it...

will do, i'll write up a review as soon as i get it for 1st impressions, then im headed off to the woods for a week in june, will write another real world use review after that.

Congratulations. Once you experience the power of a fixed blade (a real knife) like the Crewman you will never go back to those puny folders. I say why use a folder when you can use a fixed blade and why use a little knife when you can use a big one. I do have a couple folders - a Barry Wood because it's kind of unique in that the lock virtually can't fail and a CS Vaquero Grande because, well, if you ever handle one you'll know why.

you're going to get some strange looks opening letters with a bowie knife :D

Congrats on your new purchase. Over the last several years I've noticed the sale of fixed blades has been picking up. Our KA-BAR and Ontario sales have rocketed since the war. This happened during Desert Storm 1 also.
