I have been looking for a heavy duty folder that is left hand friendly, hopefully what I ordered will be okay for me. I was looking for G10 handles and S30v steel.

I just ordered a Manix, How did I do?

I don't know about the Manix but after finding reasons to not buys Spyderco knives for many years, I suddenly have a real bad case of the hots for an inlaid Native plain edge. I'm in a "don't spend money on toys" mode right now and am actually thinking of doing the unthinkable and putting one on a credit card (I hate consumer debt).

My first spyderco...hmmmm, that has a strange ring to it.

I'm not a big fun of G10 as I prefer SS but other than that I think the Manix is awesome and a great first choice. I bought one simply because I like the fact that it was a lock back and it didn't have the boye dent and as you pointed out S30V steel. I think you will be very impressed with it especially from how smoothly it opens.

The Manix is a beast, built like a tank, good steel, great design. An "armagedon" folder, not subtle. Not a "gentlemans knife" u slip in your tuxedo for low profile cary (get a kiwi), but a knife your grandchildren will handle and say," hey look this old knife looks great, i remember granddad carrying it almost half of his life in his pocket". Spyderco knives are weird knives, u either like them or u don't! ", But once u are bitten by the bug u will only leave Spyderco knives to buy a competitors knife (lets say an automatic), ONLY because Spyderco doesn't make that specific knife.

U won't be sorry, trust us.

How true. My first few quality knives were Spydercos. I've bought other good brands, but I keep coming back to the Spydies. Part nostalgia and part love of the Spyderhole, I guess. You really can't go wrong with them.
