So I'm relatively new to the khukuri scene, only recently getting into them in the latter half of this year but quickly immersing myself in any and all information I could find on them.
My first choice after I did a vast amount of research was an HI khukuri for my first one but I didn't have much luck on Blem/DOD and didn't have the funds for a brand new one off the main or the patience to wait to have it made so I made do with a KHHI GI4, ironic since I had to wait anyway cause their kami that makes it fell ill for a while but I digress.
Immediately after I secured the funds I happily ordered a CAK from the main site with horn handle.
My original intention was to order from what I saw the four big suppliers of khukuri and then take it from there(the four being HI, Tora, KHHI, and EGKH). Resisting the urge to just forgo It all and buy the model that made me fall in love with the khukuri in general, partly because I wanted to compare all four brands myself, and partly because of price, the M43 being the most expensive khukuri I was really interested in at $195.
So I reluctantly put it on the backburner and went ahead and bought a EGKH and then a Tora.
Found myself with a little extra money for myself at the beginning of December so I thought why not buy another Khuk!
I originally was going to buy another Tora because they have such a limited supply but fate intervened, someone snagged up the last model I was interested in.
So here I am khukuri-less, deciding what to do....almost went the KLO route with a CS gurkha kukri but then threw all caution to the wind, forked up the little extra and placed my order with Yangdu for an 18 inch, 25 oz. M43 with white metal fittings and a horn handle(HI in my opinion does the most beautiful horn handle work in the business).
She told me it would be a while but I said it was fine, I learned that you have to be patient when it comes to hand made masterpieces like khukuri.
And here I am, just wanting to say I finally did it! Finally on the road to getting the Khukuri of my dreams! Ahahaha! Oh and here's one of the pics that started it all for me, just beautiful.
