It's a Super Commander with the black blade from blade HQ. Hope i'm not dissapointed! I do a lot of fishing, mechanical work and around the house work. Hopefully it fits the bill nicely.

The only people I've seen disappointed with Emerson's ordered them expecting the type of polishing you'd see on a Benchmade. If you researched and know that the knives are a bit rough around the edges but super ergonomic and built like tanks then you won't be disappointed.

They easy to sharpen on a sharp maker? I see they have a chisel grind.

Chisel edge, not a chisel grind. The knife has bevels on both sides. It may require a little creativity, but if you know how to sharpen a knife in general it should not be an issue.

Thats what i meant haha. Yes, i do freehand, but the sharpmaker will make easy work of the recurve. Whats the degree on the edge?

Congrats on your choice of the Super Commander as your first Emerson!

Great minds think alike.

If it wasn't 154CM i'd attempt to reprofile it. But i think i'd probably end up with a pile of dust on my desk and the week it would take me to do so... I also however don't want to screw up the edge on my knife by sharpening it funky.

Not sure what the angle is to be honest, I've never really measured it. However, it's not difficult to sharpen, as for reprofiling, don't sharpen the back side of the blade. It may void the warranty. Just match the angle and strop it a clean, burr-free edge.
