Hi All,
I'm new to this part of the forums, although I hang around in BDF and KRAT a bit. I just ordered my first Kukri from HI after about a year of wanting one. I couldn't afford my two favs yet, the 30 Inch cobra and the Chi Duarra but I got the Biltong, which looks like a neat little Kukri variant. I also have a Cold Steel LTC kukri on the way, so it should be fun to compare them side by side. Does anyone else have a Biltong they could share their thoughts on? Thanks.

At about 9" long overall the Biltong is a nice little kitchen or camp knife. It's about the same size as the little Western hunting knives that I grew up with. It seems tiny though when compared with even a 15" BAS or AK. I have several and carry one in my jacket pocket in a homemade kydex sheath. The others were specials made by Sgt. Karka. Welcome, and I hope you enjoy it. :)

Welcome. I first started off with a Bilton then just had to get my hands on a larger model. Got a 16.5" WWII. Look out for Uncle Bills Blem and Villager sales here. You could get khuks up to 50% off. Enjoy! It won't be long for you to be itchin' to get a larger model ;)

Welcome Lagarto:)

I think you'll love the little biltong. Its a very handly knife to have around when you need a small fixed blade. Great for camping or kitchen duties. However, to get the real feel of a khuk you're going to need to get a 15" BAS Ang Khola or even a siru. The biltong is a great little knife, but the chopping power is pretty much zero (compared to other khuks, that is). Keep your eyes open for one of Uncle Bill's specials. On some days you can get a 15" AK or even a 16.5" WWII for about 20-30 bucks more than what you paid for your biltong. Once again, welcome, and enjoy the maddening fever that is HIKV:)

Yeah, I was afraid of that, I already have several more models in mind that I want to pick up as soon as finances allow. I want a Chi - Durra with that cool extended tool kit, and a Kumar Cobra, and a large AK and...well you get the idea. Hopefully in another month or so I'll be able to get one of the larger ones.

Welcome. Keep an eye on this forum. Look for a 12" Ang Khola or Sirupati. Great all-around size for camping and non-combat, or tree clearing uses. The "viillagers" are great for someone who likes to fine-tune knives, or is looking for a no-frills working knife. Not highly polished or finished, but the same high quality in the guts.
You will find the term "small" is relative here in the cantina. Anyting less than a full bore battle sword, is considered "small." Dunno why, they all seem like nice guys. Except for Nasty ;)
I'm gonna need waterwings after that one

Neat Kydex sheath, Steve....

Also great collection of khuks in a drawer,

Also, got SARGE back and your polishing transformed it. Thank you again.

Welcome Lagarto....

Welcome to the Cantina. Friendly, if a little bit weird.

Well, after juggling the numbers a bit I decided that I could indeed afford one more knife this month ( summer?) and have just ordered another HI Kukri, this time the Chiruwa Ang Khola, (I think I got that right... anyway the heavy chopper mama). Darned nepalese with their high levels of craftsmanship, efficient designs, and moderate prices. Darn them to heck. Ah well, it's a better addiction than drugs I guess.

We seem to have another victim of HIKV here. As most here know, there is no cure. And as UB says, debt is good. Welcome to the club lagarto.
