So, I've pretty much always got my esee 3 on me at all times. If I'm awake its somewhere on my person, if I'm sleeping its hanging within arms reach. Now, I actually use my knife a lot at work for various things(I build custom furniture, and refinish antiques) my issue is that in the shop, summer heat pretty much rules out long pants, and I don't even want to wear decent shorts. I end up in drawstring basketball shorts, and hanging the 3 from them is highly uncomfortable and inconvenient. This is where the necker comes in. I went with the eskabar in 1095. Simply put blade size decided it for me. I'm sure the izula is great, but I wanted the extra blade size. Here's the thing, I hate jewelry, especially necklaces. So is this thing gonna drive me nuts? How noticeable is the weight?

Haha, I just ordered an ESEE 3 because I like my Izula so much. I hate jewelry, too, but not because of the weight. I just find jewelry useless and impractical. The weight of Izula is not noticeable, so I don't think Eskabar should be any different.

As far as the Eskabar is concerned, I do not think the weight is too bad but you will know it is there. My issue is that the sheath is not very secure. It has a little rattle but it will stay however I feel that it can fall out if it jump or something. Also the sheath is a little bulky so a new sheath would solve both those issues.

Well, it depends. Why do you hate necklaces, specifically? If you hate them cause you don't like the feel of something around/hanging from your neck, well, it will definitely drive you nuts. You are essentially wearing a necklace, except instead of a pendant or whatever, it has a sheath and a knife. Even the lightest neck knife is going to be VERY noticeable compared to wearing nothing around your neck, and if you're not rockin' a Mr. T neckchain or something similar, the weight, even for the lightest, is still gonna be heavier than many necklaces.

I'm not crazy about necklaces either but I find that if I adjust the cord length of my necker (I use a eskabar as well) so that it rides a little higher on my chest, I don't notice the weight as much.

Update, the eskabar came in on Thursday. I've wore it for 2 days in multiple conditions, and I think I'll get used to it. Only down side was my wife tried to take it from me! So today I took her to smkw in sevierville, tn. She looked at the izula and several other neckers. She ended up going with the Blackjack 155, in pink no less! Thanks for everyone's opinions.

I got my Eskabar almost 2 weeks ago I love it.
Also got some micarta scales made for the Izula which make it much more comfortable in my hand.
I picked up the optional TDI belt clip and wear it clipped on my pocket when convenient.
I have some kydex so I'll probably make a new sheath for it soon, but I don't mind the stock sheath too much so I'm not in a hurry.

While we were at smkw I went ahead and bought the handles for the eskabar. 12.99 for a set of black handles and a set of orange ones, along with screws for both. I still don't get why they sell them that way. At any rate the handles do help the grip and comfort quite a bit. While I like the eskabar, its sole purpose is to be an alternative to my esee when there's no practical way to carry it comfortably. I just like my 3 too much to give it up unless absolutely necessary

I made a kydex sheath for my eskabar and after that I fell in love .The factory sheath is ok for some but I love a small secure sheath. Look into a smaller custom kydex or better yet make your own and feel the joy of a perfect neck knife.
P.S. try doing some texturing on your least favorite color of the two scales , added grip makes the knife even more enjoyable.
