I am an avid hunter, fisherman, camper, back-country skier, etc. and have been a folder guy for a long time, but decided that it was finally time to step up to a serious fixed blade knife.

After looking at customs, Beckers, Busses and others and exhausting the search function on the forum I decided the best option for me is the RC-4. I couldn't decide on the molle back or a Tek-Lok for carry, so I ordered both.

I would have expected to be nervous about the purchase, but after spending hours looking over the posts from this community I'm confident that there isn't a higher quality knife or manufacturer out there.

My RC-4 should be here late next week from Knife Works, and I'll be on the edge of my seat until it arrives...

You will love the 4. Once you have the blade in hand, you will begin to experience uncontrollable urges to purchase more ESEE blades. Just don't fight it....:D

The 4 is in my opinion the best of the bunch. It seems to do everything well.
Good luck & enjoy.

Thanks! I was thinking about the RC-5, so now I'll have to get a 6 so my 4 and 6 will average a 5 ;)

I got myself a 4 as well. Wonderful blade on this one, exudes quality. Liked it so well I ordered a 6, probably the next will be the izula II.

Rest assured you made a great choice. The 4 was my first and I will certainly buy another one in the future to have a spare.

Excellent blade.

My 4 just got here an hour ago (from Knifeworks too). You seriously will not be disappointed. I can't put it down!!!!!!!!

I got a 4 in the other day from Knifeworks also. My first ESEE knife, and I am really enjoying it so far. :) Initially I was just going to use it for hiking, hunting, camping, and so on. However, it's been my EDC choice for a few days now... and I have only owned it for a few days. :)

I'd love to EDC my RC-4 when it arrives. Unfortunately the sheeple who run my city (Denver) have decided to make carrying any knife with a blade over 3 1/2 inches illegal :grumpy:

You just got one of the best damn knives available on the market. It fits the role of big knife/little knife perfectly. I love mine, and its a tough as nails all around good at everything knife, as you could find. The only knife I think is better, is my BK2, or an ESEE5, just because I like a brute force knife for my woods knife, but thats a personal thing.

Enjoy that knife, you got a good blade there.

Congrats on your new ESEE 4 and your first fixed blade! You made a great choice on the 4 as it's a perfect all round knife for hunting and the outdoors. Instead of picking up a 6 for your next one, you should really look at getting a Junglas! It's a GREAT knife for the outdoors and would be perfect for doing everything the 4 might not be able to handle. Mine stays strapped to my bug out bag at all times, there's just really nothing it can't do.

The RC-4 was my first high quality blade as well. It was also my first Rat/ESEE knife. Ive edc'ed it quite a bit with sheath only in my front pocket of my jeans. But tomorrow I get my Izula 2 as a b-day/Christmas present and it will likely be slung around my neck from now on.
Personally I think the molle back is the way to go for outdoorsy type stuff. Either on a belt or a pack, with the elastic band and snap closure its very unlikely you'll lose your new pride n joy.

I just received a 4 for christmas...i have a 3 and a 5 already...but i can already tell that the 4 is going to be my favorite!

Hey RYE, your gonna love the 4, next thing you know you WILL have another ESEE, its a given.... May i suggest the Izzy or Izzy2 AND the ESEE6 you must have the 6 and an Izzy. Welcome and enjoy the new bkade....:p
