I just ordered a Foliage Green UK Penknife Drop Point -- my first Spyderco.

Like many on this forum, I do not need another knife. So among the several significant reasons that pushed me in favor of making this not-insignificant "luxury" purchase was learning about the company and the people behind it. In that regard, I am utterly impressed with all I have read.

Secondly, I find that the UKPK is EXACTLY what I was looking for: a modern slip joint. I love my classic slip joints dearly, but often hold back in using them as much as I would like, due to their pinned construction and natural materials.

The UKPK takes the best of the traditional and evolves it with modern materials and design. I love its simplicity and robustness, and I look forward to making it my go-to pocket knife in the field.

I also love that it's made in the U.S.A. That factored significantly into my purchase decision, too.

Now the hard part: waiting for it to arrive.

You made a great decision. My first Spyderco was a UKPK in orange and I love it. By far my favorite knife, I am never with out it. My fiance wonders why I go to bed with it clipped to my underoos.

Good choice, as long as you keep your finger in the choil its as good as locked.

I KNEW I WASN'T THE ONLY ONE WHO DID THIS! :D

Welcome to the family  I've never owned a ukpk, but I did own a Urban wharncliffe which was nice, but just too small for my liking.

You're now on a slippery slope fella. One Spydie ain't never enough!!
Go ahead and start picking out the next one.

This is seriously good advice. You'll know so when you first fondle and use the UKPK. I have an orange one and am very fond of it.

I feared this would the case, so I already have a Mule on the radar screen. :D

Thanks for the welcome into the Spyderco family, everyone.

You might as well start thinking about the next one seriously. I made the mistake of thinking one was enough so I wound up buying the next one on impulse. It is much better to know what you want and plan for it. :D

Hi MZ,

thanx much for the interest and support. The UK is a very user friendly design. I'm carrying one today.

As I unerstand, it's also legal to carry in New York City.

You think ordering one is a good warm fuzzy feeling?

Just wait till you have it in hand, now that's living my friend.

Good luck with the new Spydie.

I have that same knife and was very surprised at how much you get in such a small "package". Light, very sharp, deep pocket carry and ingenious slipit design. I love the style clip too.

Congrats. I have not seen, handled or used a spyderco yet that has dissapointed me. Beware Spydies are an addiction.
