I just placed an order for this .. here in Oregon you are allowed to carry these IF they are not concealed. I checked with two cops and the local DA (or his designee) and they define conceal as "intending to hide" and that if it's on some kind of holster/belt mounted sheath they consider that legal..

Anyone have any suggestions on something nice and fitting this good looking knife?

Since you went to the trouble of posting a pic, why don't you take a minute and describe for us what "THIS" is ?

Looks like a super fancy Halo or close facsimile. Single action autos aren't ideal for pocket carry, IMO. Maybe get a kydex belt sheath made for it?

Gavin has it right, it's a Halo V ..

I had hoped for a Kydex type solution for safety reasons...

I'm surprised it doesn't come with one. I would contact a MT dealer and ask if he could get one from Microtech, just a thought. The production ones come with a kydex sheath you can put on your belt.

yeah, came with nothing more than the cheap looking zipper pouch.. I contacted MT and I'll see if they can sell me one..

Meantime, I got a nice cop-style issue magazine clip holder made of black leather that seems to fit it like a glove.. Ugly, but gets the job done and keeps me legal.

Congrats, that's a sweet knife !

I had a Halo III from 99, it had a beautiful leather flip top button snap closure sheath that kept it pristine while it was "stored". There were no makers marks on it but I'm sure that if you're Google fu is strong you'll find a maker who does them.
Kydex is more convenient and easier to retrieve the knife from but I positive that the blade couldn't have poked through the leather on mine without somebody intentionally doing it. The Halo V's deploy pretty strongly but not enough to get through a quality sheath.
With what that beauty must've cost you I'd consider the leather if I were you.
If it's about ease of use I'm sure a good leather worker could fashion the sheath to take a tek-lok if you requested it.

Big downside is the same as with a lot of Kydex makers- you'll have to send them the knife :P

I have a new Halo V that came with Microtech's awesome new kydex sheath. But after looking at your picture, I don't think your knife will fit the standard kydex sheath. The issue lies with your cool looking black tear drop piece that is running along the firing button. The standard Halo V's don't have that, and I think that piece may bind up in the standard kydex sheath.

I could be totally wrong. Hopefully I am.. Also, my Halo V prints like a mother under my shirt when I wear it in the holster/sheath. But if you intend to wear it "outside the waist band" that may not be a concern to you.

But damn.. That is one sweet knife you have there. If I was you, I would want to carry it with me everywhere I went too.

Best of luck to you!

I would be very shocked if in Oregon you could carry an OTF auto. If so, get a kydex sheath and EDC it 'til you die!

In my opinion the beautiful cutting tool you purchased should have a nice leather belt sheath maybe with an exotic skin inlay or some tooling. Maybe you could have the hardware made to match some of the hardware on the knife.

+2. I wouldn't put that piece of art in a fugly plastic sheath. It deserves something exotic and unique. Maybe you can commission something from one of the knifemakers on this site, or someone they use and trust for their own work.

A nice knife should have a custom leather belt pouch to go with it.

Yep, exactly. Are you sure you got a genuine MT?

But, wait a minute... you posted on the evening of Thursday, 10/30, that you "just placed an order" for it. Then, just two days later on 11/1, which was a Saturday, you said "it came with" a cheap pouch. Wow - overnight shipping from ACK (who uses UPS with no Saturday delivery). I'm calling BS on this one. I could be wrong, but sounds like BS to me.

Damn it, I fell for a troll. I tried to help him out too. What is up with these trolls lately? First "Gunny", now this douche bag..

Thanks, link2derek for helping out!
