In this thread...

...a gentleman, Tmack, who is a relatively new member, is selling a knife. A personal friend of mine, Jake (Spartan_Warrior), who came to check out Blade Forums because I invited him here, offered to buy it. In the subsequent email Tmack tried to convince the young man to do the payment with the"gift" option. So Jake got in touch with me and said he thought the gift option was a bad idea. I told him he was right. I also told him there were notes from mods here on not doing the gift option.

Rules For The Exchange & Discussion Forums - (All Rules Apply Site-Wide) UPDATED 3/1/14
SECTION 2 - Rules/Procedures for Selling, Buying, Trading, & Offering Services:
Buyers/Buying
8. Warning: You as a buyer are responsible for using Paypal as it was intended, according to their Terms of Service. Using the "Gift" option revokes any buyer protection you may have if something goes wrong and makes it easier to get scammed. Be smart and protect yourself, if you use gift and get scammed don't come crying to us about it as you've already been advised.
So, I essentially repeated the above thoughts in a post in that thread, since my friend had told me the situation going on behind the scenes. Now, that post has been removed.
So, it was wrong for me to give a friend and others advise based on my personal experiences, and Spark's suggestions? It's no big deal. I can just include "Never do the gift option on a purchase" in any future invitations. I am just curious as to the grounds on which my post was deleted.
