One thing I've never been good at is picture taking. Don't have the patients for the most part and now don't have the room to build the correct set up. The photo I posted yesterday was a big improvement at least to my eyes to the ones previously. I threw together a quick light screen this morning using an old white T shirt and a frame that I had made for my wife years ago that was used for drying fruit and whatnot. Still not perfect but it will do for the time being. Here's my first try:

Diffused lighting really works !!. I would like to see better color , that is the blades are grey and handles are brown. Therefore the background could be better if it had no brown or grey. Green or blue would work best .Background patterns should never distract from the knives.

Mete, I'll see what I've got for a different color for the back ground but actually the blades are grey with brown handles. Thats something I can change pretty easy. Thanks!

Looks good Raymond :) But I suggest you take pictures of your knife outdoors. Day light is the best source of light, but not direct light from the sun. Take pics in the morning when the sun is about to go out

Howdy Ray!! Nice series of knives. Lots to like there.

The photo is better than most that get thrown up on the web. The most obvious issue I see in the pic is that the diffuser didn't totally surround the blades, so some of the blades are whitish and the top one is a dark gray. This inconsistency flummoxes the brain into trying to reconcile the difference in color (and makes for subliminal headaches ;) ).

If you click the knife photography link in my sig below, it leads to a lot of info on tutorials, tips, and techniques for taking knife pictures and making (sometimes very cheaply) studio setups to control the lighting for making the shots.

Normally I do take them outside but its been raining for the last 26 days.

Rokjoc, The top blade is darker than the other 3 cause thats the way it is. :D I'll take a look at the threads when I get a chance. Got knives to make....

Ray, I think your knives look great. Seems that some folks try to read things into a pic that isn't there instead of seeing what is actually there. To me they look just the way you described them and the distinctions are very visible. They don't have to be photo perfect to see each knife and the differences.

Very cool Ray, I love your style of knives, the antler and wrought iron works realy well together!

Still peedling. Tried different backgrounds and the black seemed to work the best. I had also brought a different light and still trying to find out what works best. Same old T shirt defuser and old fart behind the camera.
