Just picked up a BM 707 First Production

Hi Guys,

I just purchased a serrated BM 707 First Production Run, #884/1000 from a local knife shop. I've been looking for a sub 3" folder and I'm pleased with how it feels in my hands.

However after only about 10 minutes of opening and closing the knife, the G10 inlay on the side without the pocket clip fell right out. Does anyone know how the inlays are fixed to the scales? From the looks of it, there was absolutely no adhesive used.. there is no visible gunk on the inlay or the scale. Are the inlays simply pressure fit to the slots? If so, then I'm in trouble because there is definite side to side play when I put the inlay in the slot.

Should I DIY it with some super glue or epoxy? Should I send it to Benchmade? Should I take it back to the store? I don't think that much will result from returning to the store because I got it for a pretty discounted price.

This is my first decent non-balisong blade purchase and I'm just wondering how to procede. Thanks for any input!

I would fix that sucker myself, but hold off until you get some more feedback from others here. There's lots of knowledge here and almost all of it comes from someone other than me! One thing I have learned over the years, don't be in a hurry and you always be "one up" on the next guy.

that was my first instinct, but I wasn't sure if that was the way to go on a knife that I just purchased...

my other thought was seeking some sort of custom scale or inlay... add my own touch to the 707.
