Just picked up a CQC7B

Just picked up another CQC7B. I have two others but this one is in the newer
Stonewash finish. I've been waiting to pluck something of Emerson's in this
beautiful looking steel and I'm quite happy with it. It has early lockup and I
couldn't find anything to really complain about except the clip retention.

I actually thought that the pocket clip had accidentally somehow glued itself
to the G10 scales! It is so stiff I actually could not fasten it to my jeans
pocket. When I got home from the store I wedged a belt under it to stretch
it out a bit, it's still stiff but workable. Honestly, with over a hundred
knives of various manufacturers in my chest, most of them sporting clips
this newest Em' takes gets the nod for the stiffest ever!

Anyhow, it's a hell of a blade and I just love the Stonewash! This one is in
plain edge. My other one is a '99 combo.

Yeah I don't know if they are testing the clips at EKI recently. They are basically UNusable out of the box because they are so tight--not good.

I'll second that. I've had my new CQC-7 for a month and I still can't break the clip in, its just destroying my pants. Quite a shame.

I recently got a 2011 Commander and a CQC7 and they both have extremely tight clips. I had to take them off and use two pliers to bend them. They were still just way too shockingly tight, I literally could not clip them on my pocket.

I had some spare Benchmade clips and those actually fit fine. They are perfect now.

Good to hear I guess that I didn't get a 'one off'. I know if they were too loose I wouldn't like it either, but perhaps a bit of a happy medium is in order,
and a check of future one's off the line?
Broke it in yesterday on some cardboard boxes. It's a great knife!

Congrats on the 7. My 7v has been getting a lot of pocket time lately, they're great knives

If the clip was too loose you'd all be bitching......Just bend it.

Yeah, seriously. I had no problem bending the clips on my 3 2011 prodos, though only one of them was really unusable.

Come on Cevtv, listen to yourself and try to get some sense in you. Posting our experience with the recent batches of Emersons is not bitching. We all like Emersons here or else we wouldn't be buying them. Please have better attitude for fellow EKI fans.

The clips on my CQC 7B and Mini A-100 (both 2011) were also ridiculously tight. Way stiffer than my Horseman (2010). Not a massive deal, but perplexed as to why they made them too stiff when they were the perfect tension before. I bent the CQC-7 out to get it to fit and just outright removed the clip on the mini A-100. That knife doesn't need one anyway.
