I now see what all the fuss is about . . . what motivates people to post picture after picture, to rave about value & attention to detail, to sell their collection of Sebenza's (still got mine, though) :D

I just picked up a J. W. Smith PT-1, 3" blade, black palm scales. Smooth as silk action, great lines, and it fits my hand perfectly. A big thanks to everyone on the Forum who brought this maker to my attention!

Congratulations. I saw pictures of a couple of Saddlehorn Trappers he made that made my mouth water.

We'd love to see pics...:)

.............JW Smith knives are great. Great I tell you. They are GREAT, GREAT , GREAT!!!!!

okay, take a deep breath................ahh, thats better. Something about that name John W. Smith, that gets me rolling!:D :D :D

And yes I sold my Sebenza's to buy more, got to have MORE, MORE I TELL YA' , MOORRREEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

deep breath.........another one..........deep breath..............okay thats better.

Now that I got it all out, you picked yourself a great knife. I have 4 with a fifth one on the way from California. I just confirmed an order with John for a specially built LARGE model that I should be getting some drawings on in the next few weeks.

I can remember being hesitant on the first one I got, but after it, it was like the dam had burst. I just got the Scimitar with a 3.5" blade the day before yesterday and it is no different from the others. As well built a tactical as you can hope for, and a touch of elegance thrown in at no cost!!

I could go on, and on , and on, but I think you all know how I feel about the knives from John W. Smith...............:D :D :D

Coonskinner,
pic in the link of my sig line!

Artsig,
sounds like you are on a roll! Maybe you could give us a massive photospread in the Gallery? I'd really like to see the Scimitar--upswept Persian blade, I assume?

(edited after getting a new photo service provider)

You know what i wish? I wish that any time Art has a knife he really likes, he would just come out and tell us. :) None of this beating around the bush, no pussyfooting around, come on Art, just TELL us. :D

.........like told anyone this..........but........you know........I kinda......like well...........sorta like................you see......theres a ..............well you know..........Its like this...........I got this knife...............well I sorta got it..............from this maker.......................and i think...........well I sorta think.................that he is a .....................you know.......a good.............well a good maker. There I said it! Happy now? I hope so. I try to ride the fence on these things you know. Not sure I want anyone knowing I like one maker over another! Might hurt someones feelings. My momma told me "son, never step on anyones toes.........it just pisses them off" well maybe not quite like that, but that's what she meant!!:D  ;) :)

OH yeah...............that maker...............it's a Smith fella......out of Kentucky. Lives close to a couple of other makers I'm also nuts about, a Carson fella, and an Obenauf fella.

You know something, these guys can flat put a knife together......................Oh my!

Art, dude, buddy. Get a grip man. preferably on a knife;)
All these makers from Kentucky....good thing you haven't been looking up anything from Steve Dunn.......ooops..........sorry!!!!!!!
Never mind..........

Summerland, hang onto that Smith until the Janesville show. I may have to trade ya outta that one! :)

J.W. Smith makes such a good folder, that a fixed blade man like myself wants one! I have NEVER seen a J.W. Smith folder that wasnt absofreakinlutely perfect.

I sure wish that Art wouldn't hold back his feeling and just tell us how he feels, it's hard to read between the lines on his posts...;)

JW Smith is great no doubt, had a couple of his, three actually, but had to go, BUT there is one in the offing I'm hoping to have before Christmas possibly, small 3" bladed Wharncliff in S30V with stainless bolsters (no clip or clip attaching holes to mar the surface!) and scales of Bark mammoth ivory...should be sweet?!? :D
