Picked up an old clasp knife today at the gun show. It has stag slabs, thin tin bolsters, and a LARGE WIDE blade for the handle only being about a half inch wide. Pics to come but haven't figured how to upload yet... Sorry guys. Now for the interesting part! The back of the blade is marked but all I can make out is a a group of letters stamped in a half circle pattern as follows (the last two letters are hard to make out) caellad or the last two could be io? It's old and hard to read. The front of the blade has what looks like two battle ships in the ocean and five airplanes, they look military as well. In the center of the ocean scene is the Rock of Gibraltar with the words Gibraltar over the engraving. Thanks for any help!

Here are the pics...

To upload pics.

1. Upload the pics to your computer

2. create a Photobucket account

3. Go to "upload" after creating your photobucket profile

4. select the pic you want to upload and let it upload.

5. After your pic is done uploading, View the pic. There should be four image link to the right of your pic. Copy the one that says "IMG code" and paste it in your post.

Hope that works. Let me know if you need more help.

Looks kind of like an African design but I'm not very experienced in vintage knives so I'll leave this to experts. Nice looking knife though:thumbup:

I know Spain was very involved with that rock. I know the people of Gibraltar rejected spain at some point. I also found out that WWI & WWII brought the U.S. to the rock as well. Was thinking maybe a souvenir from around that time?
