So I got these two knives in the mail yesterday, and had only handled one byrd before this, the raven.
G10 Cara Cara - This knife reminds me a lot of the endura. The lockup is very tight, there's very slight horizontal blade play when the knife is closed, and the spine of the knife is the same thickness almost all the way to the tip. This thing looks pretty solid. I feel that the G10 isn't as... good? As the G10 I've got on my manix. It's not as "sticky" and the pattern on the outside surface is not uniform, some parts feel different. Sharp as hell and almost 4" for an unbelievable deal.
SS Flight - This one interested me, as it kind of reminds me of the Scorpius, which was always intriguing. This knife feels even more solid than the Cara Cara. The blade has a good line, with a small swedge out of the spine. The SS handle is heavy, and ergonomically it's up there with the manix (and the native for all you small-handed folk). The knife looks beautiful - this one would make a good gift. I'm very impressed, I like this better than the Cara Cara.
Both knives have one small flaw (which isn't really a flaw to some). They can be opened one handed, but the wrist-flip isn't a part of it. You have to guide the blade with your thumb until it locks. The lockup from closed position is also very tight, and a good amount of WD40 was used to loosen it up, and it's still pretty stiff. Flicking out the manix's blade is a little difficult because it's a large knife, but the action is very smooth. These two seem a little stiffer - maybe they'll work into perfection like my manix did.
Overall - Very impressive knives, even more so when looking at the price. These are the best deal I've come across in a long time. And non-knife people would love the ss flight.
