I've been admiring John's work for a while now and have wanted to give one his blades a try but I've never taken the plunge. Part of that was I wasn't sure what to order in a custom knife. I have come to the conclusion that no production sheath knife is what I want. With the blade length I want the stock is usually too thick for my preferences and thinner stock is used on shorter blades. I saw John post a picture of his new Kane II knife and emailed him. After some back and forth we came up with the Kane II Plus model. This knife will feature the following:

5 inch cutting edge
1/8" spine made from 1 1/2 blade width
Natural Canvas Micarta Scales
01 Tool Steel

I'm pretty pumped. Here's his Kane II. So imagine this with a spear point. I told John that I basically wanted a larger/modern Kephart and I think this is going to knock it out of the park! John is calling this one the Kane II Plus

Thanks John!

Welcome to the cool kids club! Please explain your spear point modification, it sounds like it might be very utilitarian, I think I shall like it!

I love a drop point. My CRK Inkosi is a drop point and I also carry a Case Sodbuster a lot (drop point). But I don't do any hunting anymore and this will strictly be a woods knife. While I think a drop point would serve me fine I just really enjoy a Kephart type knife with a spear point. I wanted something a little more modern than a standard Kephart and John seems to have the remedy.

That sound alike a beauty, you can't beat a knife you envision yourself, especially when John's going to take care of the quality and toughness to boot!

Can't wait to see it. Thanks for the teaser

Thanks guys! John has been great to work with so far. I can't wait to get this knife in my hands!

Glad to see another familiar face pick up a JK!
Hope she serves you well!

Awesome BMC!

You guys probably already know this but this sub-forum is filled with a bunch of good guys. heefageLA would probably never tell you all this but when he found out I was thinking about a JK Handmade Knife a few months back he offered to send me one of his to try. I didn't take him up on it because I would hate to lose or mess up in some way a knife (whether myself or through shipping) that wasn't mine. I appreciated that offer immensely.

Ah man, its all good. That's one of the reasons I love JK knives so much. They actually look better with a bit of dirt and scratches on them. Especially the Mud Turtle!

Plus, your from Louisiana! I got to reach out to fellow swamp landers. :p
