Had to get this one out of my head......

Xiphias Kiridashi

Blade: 3" x 1/2" O1 steel, chisel ground
Handle: Swordfish sword with Bloodwood liners and st. steel pins
Scabbard: Swordfish sword with Bloodwood "welt", inlaid with a rare earth magnet. Wet-formed 7oz. veg tan leather harness.

I'm not all too happy with the skanky belly leather I had to use for this. As soon as I get some better hide there will be a re-do of the harness. The magnet holds the knife in place VERY nicely, but just a light push on the back(front) side with a finger and the blade pops right out.

Anyway, I just wanted to play a bit and this is the result.

I hope you like it. Thanks for lookin'.

Man you are innovative. Does the scabbard double as something? It looks like a net tying shuttle.

Stuart - Thanks!

I see a marlin spike. :)

The scabbard serves no other purpose than to house the knife. The next version however..... ;)

Up to the 3rd picture, I was thinking what the heck kind of kiridashi is this ? 4th one explains everything. Very cool !

I would think the scabbard would make a fine leather working/stretching/forming tool......you know, for those time when you need to throw together a sheath out in the field!
