Just Pre-orderd RC-5

Hello everyone I just pre-ordered the new RC-5 plain with black blade and a tan sheath. I was going to get a RC-6 but I think the RC-5 is just about what I need. I hope to be attending Boot Camp and then off to OCS later this year for the Army. I'm in the process of losing weight, as soon as I can make tape I'll be starting the process. I was told by my father who was a long range recon SGT. for the 173rd airborne in Vietnam that next to your feet and gun your knife is the most important thing while in combat, "GO GET A SURVIVAL KNIFE." I did lots of research and settled on the new RC-5. If it has reviews like any other RC knife I know it will be great. Even if I don't get branched infantry I'll have a real nice MRE opener. I hear these start shipping this month, is that still holding or has it moved? I'll take pics when it comes in. Until then back to to lurking.

Congrats on your incoming RC-5 and welcome to the RAT Family :thumbup:. I think you'll really enjoy your knife and knowing it is backed by the BEST warranty in the business and a company run by a couple of the most stand up gentleman you could find.

Once you go RAT you never go back. So, with that being said, it may be your first, but it will not be your last.

I think you made a good choice. I can't think of another survival knife I'd rather have.
 
Thanks guys, this is a really great bunch of guys and girls. This addiction is growing I can't wait for the H.E.S.T. That thing looks evil. What type of sheath comes with it? How much? So many question so little money.

If I'm not mistaken, that info either hasn't been determined or hasn't been released as of yet. This forum will most likely be the first place that will hear it though.;)
 
Congrat's on your choise of a RAT cutlery product. I too have an RC5 on order and for your application the sheath system of the RC5 as well as it's design makes it a great choice.

My first RAT knife was an RC6 when they just came out. It would also suit your survival needs with no problems whatsoever.
 
The RC-6 is a little bigger than what I want but hey I won't complain about a big knife. Might just get that too for my camping needs.
