I purchased a Blue Titan about a week ago and it shipped out today. I was really excited about getting this knife, but I'm afraid I may have made a bad decision. I thought zdp189 was remarkable steel but have recently read otherwise....furthermore, spyderco is about to offer clad steel zdp blades for about 1/4 the price I paid.

Did I make a mistake shelling out $320+shipping for a "william henry" zdp blue titan? any input is much appreciated

William Henry makes exceptionally fine knives that are well worth their asking price. Whether they are worth it to you is a question only you can answer, but you shouldn't feel that you made a bad decision in general.

Well, I wouldn't worry about it personally.

You're buying much more than just blade steel in the WH.

I can buy a knife in S30V for $50 or one in S30V for $600, doesn't make it a bad decision necessarily.

William Henry makes great knives with a lot of class, character and quality.

Spyderco makes nice knives but they're not in the league of WH.

My guess is you may never notice a difference between the zdp and some other high end steels. Get the knfe and enjoy it, you obviously put a lot of thought into the decision that prompted you to order it, I think now you just have a little buyers remorse.

Which model did you get?

ZDP-189 is incredible stuff, and the William Henry should be equally as good.

If it was me, I'd be happy to have such a beautifully made knife.

The reason Spyderco is using laminated ZDP189 is because it offers additional stain resistance, and because only having to use one third as much very expensive steel brings the cost down.

ZDP189 is in the league of Fallkniven SGPS, and I'd own/use either for an amazing slicer.

That's much more than I would pay for a knife regardless of blade-steel.

But I'm just a po'boy from the Carolinas.

If you've got the loot and you want the knife, don't let anyone else tell you how to spend your own money.

Enjoy your knife,
Allen.

I received the blue titan yesterday and am very pleased. It is a very attractive, classy knife. It's actually really nice to be able to buy and knife and use it, as I am accustomed to big knives and swords which never leave my walls.

Having had the Spyderco Caly Jr in Laminated ZDP for a couple of months now,....I can't imagine any negatives about this steel.

As much as I love this knife, I wouldn't put it anywhere near the class of a W&H. I'm still new enough to this "disease" that the most expensive knife I've purchased so far was a $ 170 Benchmade. Knowing my obsessiveness, and the fact that just about all 3 boys are about done with college, the W&H is out there on my horizon.

Enjoy and very quality piece of art.
