Is there any way to get a BK15 without a choil? I love the knife design in every way but I hate choils so much...so much. Just putting it out there in case the knife gods(Ethan?;)) might grant me my wish. :D

How about a custom? I am sure someone on this forum could make you one (with ethans permission).

I LOVES me some choils, so if you have knives with them, just send em my way. They will be loved & well taken care of ! LOL :D

 In fact, i have gone as far as putting choils on my Beckers ! Ohh---no he did unt go there ! LOL :D

Seriously though, if you want a BK5 or BK15 "style" knife with no choil, check out some Dexter-Russell boning knives or their cimeter knife. Similar-comfy handle & up swept blade, but they are NOT a Becker. Twin Supply is a good source for them.

nope

not a chance :)

Unfortunately production knives don't work like that. First of all they work hard to keep up with their HUGE new releases and original demand. Secondly you give people an inch they'll take a mile. They do this for you then John nobody will request a scandi ground, sabre bk 16, in OD, with a choil and maybe and inch longer, "But you did the custom for Shotgun?!"

But I hear where you're coming from. My Powerful hatred of swedges has kept me away from many a Becker.

I don't hate swedges, but they sure do eat up a baton stick though. If you ever sharpened one---forget it, you could NOT baton on that part forever more. But i do like the swedge because it gives people the option to sharpen & make it more of a fighting knife. We can all think of at least a couple hundred thousand people who may be interested in doing that.
U.S. Army, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Coast Guard. I think Beckers should be the new military issue & patent the BK7 Bayonet that Murphnuge made. See thread below.

Will probably end up with a custom. There doesn't seem to be a production blade that has what I'm looking for.

So YOU'RE the reason companies put choils on knives and the bane of my existence. I hate you and the choiled horse you rode in on. LOL:D

Wasn't expecting a yes but it can't hurt to ask. Worst case is they say no.

Since the blanks are cut out with the choil the only way Ka-Bar could make one without would be for someone to manually cut/grind out the blank. It would have to be a custom manually made knife no matter who makes it.

Yeh if your looking for a choilless roach belly. Check out the KFU forum. Chris made one that's just gorgeous

I hear you Shotgun, I would be all over a 5 or 15 without choils
I have a 2, 3, 7, 9 and two 11's and love them all..........no choils.
8 years of trapline, 35 years of fishing and 12 years of slaughterhouse work and many drunken whittlin' sessions and I never once needed or wanted a choil, never seen a single working knife in the meat trade that has been choiled either.

My opinion but to me
"A knife choiled is a knife spoiled"
