Received my Buck 110 Master Series today and what a knife. It is everything I have read about it here and more. The fit and finish are absolutely perfect and it is one of the sharpest knives out of the box that I have ever had. The only other knife I own that was this sharp out of the box was my 98 Endura.
My wife who is anything but a knife nut thinks it is beautiful and believe me that is high praise from someone who doesn't even like knives. Congratulations to Buck for producing this series. My thanks to the Knifecentre of the Internet for the rapid delivery, 1 week to get here in Australia.
I would love to get the 532 Master series as well but can not seem to find anyone who has them in stock. I would appreciate it if anyone knows of any dealer who still has them in stock.

Cheers

Hi John,
Congrats on owning one of the most beautiful production knives ever made. The 110ms is a classic knife that is very well done and for the price a great value. In a way, it's a shame that the series won't continue but think of the collectors value of owning this knife.

As far as the 532ms goes, I have no idea where to get one. I had one on back order with Bullman Cutlery for over 4 months and they weren't able to get any. I just happen to email Howard at the Knife Center and he just happened to have a few at that time.

My advise to anyone who knows where to get any master series knives is to get one. You won't be disappointed.

Are you going to use this knife or is it for a collection?

Regards,

All,
It looks like AG rRussell has 65 or so of the 532's on order. The last ones should be out of the shop early next week.
John, I'm glad you like it. We've found that BG-42 can be sharpened to one of the sharpest edges We've seen..

Jeff, thanks for the info, I will have a look at A G's site. I really believe you about the sharpness, the edge is awesome.

Kodiak, I thought when I ordered the knife that I would use it but on receiving it I will definately add it to my collectables. It is too beautiful to use, I would have to have a 2nd for that.

Jeff any chance of Buck producing the same knife with a genuine Stag handle? That would really light my fire.

Cheers

My thoughts exactly. I got this knife intending to use it until I opened the box. I do like to play with it and polish the nickel silver, though. Very well done, almost like a custom knife. Snaps to Buck!

joh:

In Dec. I bought two buck 532's and was extremely pleased with the finish on the knives but was extremely displeased with the fit of the blade to the handle. There was an unacceptable amount of lateral play of the blade on lockup. I ended up selling both knives because of that. Before buying , please ask the seller to check for lateral play first , otherwise you may be unhappy when you receive your knife.Good luck! DDS

JOH, Greg,
Pete's custom knife shoppe will be the place to get the BG-42 stag combo (or ATS-34)... We have stag in house for that project. Also some ram horn, pearl, Jig bone, Impala bone. The exotics mix will evolve as we go.

It also looks like the first 200 that are ordered through the shoppe will be serialized. All with come with the certs of Authenticity. Even though each one is made to the 'Designers Choice' - YOU!!!

DDS,
I'm sorry you got two with too much play. As always this could have been returned for warrenty repair. Being a production knife, there will always be variances in the amount of blade play due to riveting pressure variances. I just reviewed the tray headed for packing, and there are variances in lateral play. Some are tight with no play, and some are tight and have slight play. I would have like to seen what you considered too much play. In our mind the action is good, but only your opinion counts. Plese accept my apologies for your experience.

Jeff

PS some 532 MS are going to packing tomorrow, and I know AG has ordered some of them Beyond that, I don't know who else will have them...

Jeff,
Could you please comment on how and where to order the custom Buck 110s? Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Greg,
We hope that by June, Pete's Shoppe will be open at our web site... I was going to let a few of you critique it before we offically opened it. I don't want to release too much on the actual process yet until it's almost public. Its a pretty unique set-up.

Jeff, I've decided to hold off on the 532 Masters and wait until the custom shop opens. The 110 is my all time favourite knife and the idea of being able to customise it to my specifications is the ultimate.
Can you give a date when the shop will be opening?

Cheers

Jeff:
Thanks for your comments. When Buck originally was going to use, I believe, the Sawby design lock I was anxious to get one. Unfortunately, the design never went to production except in the present Buck-Lock form. I bought one of those original models and I was comparing the lock-up which was tight but had very slight acceptable lateral play to it. I really like my original knife except for the mismatched handle colors. The same goes for a recent Case cooperlock in stag that I purchased. When this occurs ,alot of the attraction towards the knife dwindles for me. The same goes for the fit of the blade to handle. That's why we have quality custom knifemakers that offer that expected fit and finish to discriminating buyers.
I guess I should stop trying to buy mail order to save $$, and hand select that special knife that fits my standards. I will try to find another 532 that is acceptable to me since it is such a beautiful knife. In my opinion, I feel the discriminating knife buyer would be willing to pay that extra "premium" knowing that he was receiving that "select" knife that met the above standards.
I often pay extra when I purchase surplus firearms that are hand selected by condition.

Thanks!

JOH,
WE hope to have the Custom Shoppe open by Mid June...

DDS,
I understand about the play variations.. We don't have a true custom shop anymore... We are really making customized production knives, and as such, we can have variations in parameters. I guess one of the perils of the internet age is not being able to select out the cream. It just means us MFG's needs to make everything the cream and do a better job of controlling our processes...
