Yep, I just opened the box.
And it is simply beautiful!
Nickle-silver bolsters, asian water-buffalo horn scales, finger-grooves, no rivets, and BG-42 blade.
1st impressions:
It's beautiful!
The nickle-silver gleams like the crome on a Harley!
The asian water-buffalo horn scales (AWBH) are...well...different than I expected.
First of all, they are very highly polished.
And they have grooves in the sides.
And they actually bulge outward in the middle and taper back in to meet the bolsters.
This gives the AWBH 110 a rather different feel in the hand than the flat wood scales version, and when combined with the finger-grooves it feels very different, yet familiar (it's hard to put in to words).
But it definitely feels more secure in my grip with less slide.
And because the scales have a slight bulge outward, it fills my hand better than the flat wood scales version.
The only thing that I don't like is that the scales look a bit like plastic.
It came sharper out-of-the-box than any knife I have ever owned.
Overall, I could not be happier!
This will be my new EDC, replacing my Alaskan Guide 110.
Now I will have to do some cutting to compare the S30V Alaskan Guide 110 against the BG-42 Custom 110.
I'm getting a camera soon so maybe then I'll be able to post pictures.
