After all the great response I got on this flashlight, I ordered one and was so excited to open it this evening. I was very impressed when I took it out of the package and held it, but then was utterly devastated to find that it doesn't seem to project any light. This is regardless of where the endcap is turned. Am I missing something here? It does have batteries installed. What gives?

Im going to assume you have the battries installed the right way :) Try taking it all apart, checking the Lamp to make sure its not dead and put it back together, if you have a spare lamp try it. Failing that contact surefire they have great customer service. Oh and try fresh batteries.

Yes, the batteries are in correctly and I even tried a fresh pair of batteries which I ordered with the light. I didn't try a new lamp because I don't have one. How might I check the lamp that's in it?

defective lamp assembly.. Send it back to Surefire.. I'm sure its covered by warranty on manufacturer's defect.. ;)

Is the filament in the bulb broken?

The filament looks fine, as near as I can tell. Should I contact Surefire directly or the vendor from whom I purchased it? Man, what a disappointment! I wanna try this puppy out! :(

Call Surefire and tell them your problem. They will probably ship you a new lamp without any wait or without shipping the old one back!

Bearlegs-

I had a similar problem trying a KL1 on my E2e-HA.

Make sure the pocket clip is not interferring with the bezel assembly from seating fully against the body. If necessary, very carefully (with tailcap & bezel removed) seat the pocket clip deeper (its held in place by tension) by placing it against a hard surface and tapping on the tail end with a hammer (put some thick tape over the tail end).

This method worked for me in getting my KL1 to operated on my E2e-HA.

Thanks for the input, everyone. I contacted the vendor and they said to send it back to them, which I've already done. I'm so disappointed! Oh well, that's the first time I've ever received something that didn't work, so I guess it was bound to happen. ;)

Over the years, I've had two SF's that wouldn't operate. Both had defective bodies:they were too long, and the tailcap couldn't make the necessary connection to complete the circut...FYI...
