Greetings!
I've stewed over purchasing a custom Emerson CQC6 since I first read about them in books some years ago. Finally took the plunge, with the assistance of a fellow forumite (who shall remain nameless unless they should like to reveal themself
; thank you!
)
I can say that the fit and finish of the piece truly exceeds my expectations. The dovetailing of the micarta scales and ti bolsters is exquisite. The grind lines perfect, and the edge sharp and ground thinner than I expected (I expected a folding prybar).
Much like when I purchased my first Sebenza, I experience an equal level of surprise over my contentment vs. "the hype." And I have no doubts that the knife will appreciate in value in time, making its somewhat steep purchase price a non-issue.
While my small Seb. is more appropriately-sized for daily carry for me with my job (and is small enough to accommodate the occasional carry of a PPK), the CQC6 will find itself pocketed every now and again.
My question now is this: Is the Usual Suspect initiation as painful and stomach-turning as they say? I know I can bear the pain, but I've gotta be upfront about something. I usually bring an element of chaos and corruption to any organization I join, so I may not be the man you're looking for.
Thanks to all for allowing me to ramble. BTW, nice place you've got here! I hope to stop in more often and learn some more from you old-schoolers...
